    Walther PPS M2 9mm

Had/sold the 9mm Classic; loved its shootability; no FTFs in 450 rounds. Adopted the 9mm M2 early; have loved its ergos and shootability; no FTFs in 600 rounds (of varying quality). Haven’t experienced the barrel-peening that some have, but did get caught in the drop-safe recall (two-week...

    Walther PPS M2

I think the problem with the PPS (Classic or M2; had the former, have the latter) is not getting it into a pocket, but out of one with speed. My M2 is happy IWB at 4 o'clock.

    .45 and 1911 losing ground?

I like 9mm, and have SIGs, Glocks, Walthers, and CZs to push it. But, for self-defense, the efficacy of the round presumes an expansion that will make it more like .45ACP. If its expansion is not optimal, the wound channel will be less, and considerably smaller than an even non-expanding...

    Do you open carry?

In the woods, sometimes. On the street, nope. I think open-carry wins no one over to the 2A cause, and THAT is a worry.

    Two gun ccw

Is this 2 CCW a "two-is-one, one is none" thing, or are ambushes common where you have no choice but to go?

Would you rather: Glock 43 or Sig P938

Not a fan of safeties on carry guns. I'll take my G43 (sometimes in a pocket with just a MIC holster), when I don't take my Walther PPS M2.

    Favorite pistol

It's usually my most recently acquired, because all the reasons for acquisition are so fresh in my mind. At the moment, it's my Walther PPQ45. Great trigger; wonderfully accurate.

    Best 357 for the money?

A Monson-built (therefore used and still reasonably priced) Dan Wesson 15-2 (with various barrels) is in my collection of .357 Magnums for good reason. If I had to choose between it and my 6" S&W 686-4 and my Davidson's-exclusive 5" Ruger GP100, my head would explode. They are all that good...

    Glock 19 vs M&P 9c

Glock 19. Had an M&P40c. Nice in the hand but the trigger was ill-defined, and I won't replace triggers in firearms I might carry...

yet another question about 9mm CCW options

If you, the OP, see yourself having never more than one gun and are choosing just from the three you list, then I'd strongly recommend the Glock 26 (I have one) for CCW and, with G19 and G17 mags, for HD. Bases covered... But, of course, who buys one gun and doesn't buy another? And since the...

Will Optics Overtake Iron Sights on Pistols?

Overtake? I suspect not, especially as service rifles with optics are becoming more the thing for HD and hunting.

Handgun you trust your life with?

All I own, except my Ruger Mark I, Ruger SP101, and CZ Kadet, each in .22 LR.

My first wheel gun, not suspecting this at all...

You think you got a deal?! Just wait. You're now on the slippery slope. At some point, you'll see a revolver you've just got to have. You'll pay more than market value and cancel out this particular deal. Somehow, I now have six revolvers in the safe and just last week paid a pretty penny...

OMG, I DID IT! (Ruger Reassembly)

I, too, recently survived the reassembly (my first) of the Mark I that I acquired a few years ago. Glad to have had a YouTube walk-through to calm me down.

    Dan Wesson Pistol kits

If I had what you had, I'd not sell, unless I had no choice.

Nine rounds of .380 vs five rounds of .38

Just how protracted do you imagine your gunfight will be?

    Anyone own S&W 686 revolvers?

Glad to have a 6" -4. Its SA is something that needs to be pulled to be believed.

    What new 9mm?

I can vouch for the goodness of the G19, PPQ, and P99 AS. If you go for a PPQ and its remarkable trigger, and think it likely the unusual DA/SA P99 AS will get your attention, buy the M1 PPQ, not the M2, so you can have interchangeable mags.

    Python and Monson-made Dan

Apologies hardly needed. We're all cats here, not inclined to be herded.

    Python and Monson-made Dan

Not sure if this is meant for me, the OP. I'm not in the market for a Python. I don't collect queens for the safe, just amass shooters for the fun of discovering what makes them different... As the OP, I had imagined chiming in just about now to summarize this thread's comments, but I now...
