The .30-06…the king of cartridges is it fading to the sidelines?

My primary hunting rifle is a Weatherby chambered in 30-06. I bought it new about 30 years ago. To me the 06 is just about perfect, it doesn't give up much to the .300 magnums with less recoil and less expensive ammo. One of my hunting buddies has been telling me that a good hunting rifle needs...

    Old Ammo, is it good?

I've had friends give me boxes and coffee cans full of mixed ammo found when cleaning out Gradpa's garage that were 50 years or older. Some of the brass is discolored but they all seem to work just fine.

    30-06 Based Cartridges

I'll just stick to the original. I've got a Weatherby Mark V action 30-06, I bought it new in 1996, I guess I'll just use it until I can't hunt anymore, hopefully my grandson will want it.

chance of using your ccw for defense?

I live in California, in a county where getting a CCW is nearly impossible. I'll be 60 this year. I've had 2 occasions when I perceived ill intent and for some reason, the people who where the source of my concern somehow got the impression that I had a gun nearby and had a change of heart. On...

My problem (as a person working in the industry) with GunBroker

As a business person, I'm often amazed at how many people really don't seem to understand how business works.

Which movie would you require all anti gun folks to watch

Fear, with Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon. Dad could have put an end to that nonsence in a minute if he'd only had a gun.

    Glock sights. Why the hate?

The stock front sight on my Gen 3, model 22 came off. It was replaced with a similar metal sight.

    Budget defense rifles

That isn't much of a budget for 1 gun, much less 2.

    Secretive about guns, ammo, etc.?

I don't flaunt it to my neighbors. No stickers on vehicles or hats or shirts. I don't hide it from my friends. Some of my whitewater kayaking friends know, I've taken a few shooting for their first times, a few others have asked me to take them and I will soon.

For a duty pistol, does a rail matter?

Yep, my trusty best buddy would certainly be letting me know where the boogie man is!

For a duty pistol, does a rail matter?

It's my house and no one knows it better than I do. The gun light will only go on when the intruder has been spotted. My house would only be pitch dark if the power is out, otherwise we keep one light on.

With the COVID-19 scare going on, are you out walking more? What stick are you using?

Yes, a stick can be a useful tool. I'll be 60 this June, I'm still in good physical condition, partly due to a regular exercise routine, since I was 13 years old, partly due to good genes or luck that I haven't had any major illnesses or injuries. When I was 13 years old I began studying...

For a duty pistol, does a rail matter?

My Glock 22 has a Streamlight TLR-1 light mounted on it. This is the gun that is near my bed. If my wife were to be the one to use the gun, the added weight, though minimal, does help tame the recoil, it is a noticeable difference. As far as giving the bad guy something to aim at, this light is...

With the COVID-19 scare going on, are you out walking more? What stick are you using?

During my "normal" routine, I work out in the morning, before work. I lift weights 2 days, run on the third day, start over. About 30 years ago I invested in a "half rack" weight system, Olympic style barbell and a set of dumbbells. It has been one of the better investments that I've made...

    What is your dream revolver?

In 1981 I bought my first handgun, a 4" S&W model 19. A few months later, a gun shop owner showed me his personal 6" model 66. I wanted one of those ever since. 3 months ago, someone was selling that gun, a 6" model 66-2 on Calguns for a reasonable price and I bought it. Maybe my bar isn't as...

    Bear country carry piece (handgun)?

While I've never had to defend myself from a grizzly bear, my wife and I came upon one in Glacier N.P. a few years back. After a moment of eye contact, the bear took off. I'm firmly convinced that if he'd come at me as fast as he ran off, I'd have been very hard pressed to clear leather. At...

    Reload Carry Ammo?

As far as reliability, I've loaded a few thousand rounds of .40 and .357 Mag practice loads, only one didn't go off, I'd put the primer in backwards. I'm not the least bit worried about loading SD ammo and taking a little bit of extra time to make sure that it's perfect. As far as a...

How much *DID* Walking Dead contribute to Pythons collectors premium?

I've thought the same thing, zombies seem to die from any small amount of brain trauma, why not just use a .22?
