Parabellum Research Ammo big-time 10mm and .44 Magnum

Why AA 9? Tried in .500 Linebaugh, .475 Linebaugh. Maybe my mistake was using a minimum powder charges for the different loads. It's VERY fast, but at the lower ends, in the big cases you end up with pretty substantial velocity variation. Guess it's a full throttle type powder? When...

Parabellum Research Ammo big-time 10mm and .44 Magnum

I REALLY want a new gun right now. Glock 29 is the only one in the local shop for a reasonable price. Where do you get this ammo? 297???

    Regarding Caliber Wars...

Favorite pistol rounds: .500 Linebaugh Maximum .475 Linebaugh. .500 JRh .45 Super Anyone want to try just one? ;) I get REAL sick of this stuff. You have handgun rounds that START at 1700 ft-lbs of energy, and go up to 3200 ft-lbs. In other words we finally have rifle power in packable five...

If you shoot sub-MOA at 25 yds offhand with handguns, do not bother to read

Can't tell from the pictures the kind model of the guns.

If you shoot sub-MOA at 25 yds offhand with handguns, do not bother to read

Accuracy? I guess ultimately what I'm asking is how do you weed out fact from fiction on accuracy when purchasing a new firearm? Depends on who you are, what God gave you, and how much money you can spend. Funny, but it also depends on what you are given to start with. I thought all...

    Ruger Distaste

My comments about the new Single Six sitting under the bed is not about the barrel, which is actually very good, and tight for .22, even a lr. It is about the cylinder throats. Ruger thinks .226" is OK. My gunsmith isn't in love with that, and suggests a custom cylinder, at about .224"...

    Ruger Distaste

Some of the guns have weird specs. .45 Colt, Single Six, and, they don't go out of their way to let you know what they are. 226" throats on a .22lr cylinder? How are the .45 Colt specs, CraigC? Weird part is even calling Ruger can get you contrary information, depending on who you talk to...

    Excellent work, CraigC. Thank you.

Is a real colt worth it?

The problem with the market is indeed that it is very small, and dominated by some not very friendly buyers, and some really rude buyers and gunsmiths. However, that said, in most of the US, it's enough to keep Colts' production at a pretty high cost. I assume the Colt union employees...

Is a real colt worth it?

Bowen wrote me something similar: When he gets done with a ruger, it's still a Ruger. What he meant, and in context of the question, is that no matter what he does, he can't turn a Ruger tolerances into Freedom Arms tolerances. The problem I have with Colts is at the new price point, or used...

Is a real colt worth it?

"but I was wondering, would it be worth it to get a real colt? I mean is there a benefit to them other then the name? Cause $2000 is a lot to shell out for a shooting iron(I know that's high side, but the lowest ive seen is 1400) Your input?" The benefit to Colts are they hold their value, or...

Is a real colt worth it?

If I was buying another 1911 I would also look at a Colt, if I could find one. They seem to be reasonably priced for the market. Is the fit and finish on a Colt SAA really good enough to justify the price, considering the other competitors in the market? Guess it depends on what you find when...

Is a real colt worth it?

Fit and finish? Turnbull, Huntington, etc. can do a presentation blue on a Ruger that would knock your eyes out. I will say the blue on some old Colts I shot equaled their work, however. The New Rugers, at least the Single Six under my bed, is REALLY good. It's a great value at the 400-500...

Is a real colt worth it?

"I would be buying for a shooter.... It wouldn't really be a field gun so it wouldn't get scratched or dinged alot.... I'm still not sure. If I see a replica that looks, feels, and shoots well enough to make up for not being a colt i guess i could go for it without regrets" There aren't...

    Pig gun: 30-06 or .375 H&H?

This is a choice between a Interarms Mark X 30-06 and a CZ 550 in .375 H&H. It's which rifle to take hunting, and what load? Recoil will be determined by the load, and 270's at about 2600 fps are what I had in mind with the .375. 220's at 2500 fps with the .06. Any other pet loads...

    Pig gun: 30-06 or .375 H&H?

I was asking for specifics, since recoil can be tailored in the .375 H&H, and in the 30-06 up or down considerably. Considering one rifle weighs 7 pounds, and the other 10, recoil does not automatically go to the .375. A 220 grain .375 load is unlikely to bounce off a pig just because it's...

    Pig gun: 30-06 or .375 H&H?

What kind of bullets do you use in the .375, H&H Hunter? Velocity?

Camping compromise gun, animal vs. people

Mountain lions attacks? I think you've got a better chance of being hit by lightning, carrying a rifle then you do being attacked by a ML. That said, I wouldn't want to be wrestling one with a knife. Pretty much any excuse to carry a gun, hmmm?;)

OK. So I carry a Bond derringer. Let's talk .45 Colt SD loads

I think the point is it's kind of the value/crazy scale. There are rounds from DT and BB that are absurdly expensive, but they get the velocity with a relatively light bullet, and an excellent expanding bullet, if you are buying. The major manf's are using slower powders, and their loads suck...
