i'd say a 270win because, well, i had this argument with myself already. it boils down to the fact that everyone has an -06 from granddad. i wanted to be different, so i went with the most similar, easy to find ammo, and came up with 270
whatever the value, i'd pay $500 for it ;)
that's a sweet shotgun/rifle. definately something to keep around for the family to admire. i'd have an appraisal done on it quickly, and then have it thoroughly gone over. personally, if that gun ended up in my safe, i'd hope that the value is low...
i've got close to 2k rounds on hand. all NATO ammo: 1K of M885 LAP, and 100 m196 tracers, 200 m856 AP tracers, close to 1k of m193. i've got a few dozen m995 Armor Pierce.
yeah, i'm kinda stockpiling ammunition, but it's getting more expensive every day.

if you end up going with one of those solid aluminum handguards (and have the resources available) i'd definately suggest milling or drilling some holes in a nice pattern. that thing will get HOT if you shoot with any real rapidity

very nice rifles. i've shot one, and drooled over a few others. i think i'd go with a scout scope for it, and leave the factory rear sight in a drawer. really cool guns.
from what i've gathered, the only drawback is the proprietary magazines. it would've been nice of Ruger to design it to work...
i dunno, i think that it doesn't get any prettier than a Turnbull product. too bad that their website doesn't list 357mag as an option. if you wanted a really good looking model, you're probably gonna have to have it made.
