The .308 round was introduced by Winchester in the M70 FW. . . therefore a classic combo. 30-06 would also be hard to beat in a FW. I have a new .308 FW and love it.

Bought the Howa/Hogue/Nikko combo last summer in 300 Win Mag. Stock really takes the sting out of the Win Mag. Scope is ok, but groups are right at at or maybe a little over 1MOA. My other guns shoot < 1MOA, but they all wear Leupolds. I'm thinking the scope might be getting a little rattled...

Those new Winnies might be the best they've ever made!

Just bought the FW last month. Weight = 6lb 12 oz, + 12 oz Leupold 2.5-8x36= 7 1/2 lb not counting ammo or sling. Love the gun and it shoots 1/2 MOA so far.

P.S. I also have a Sako 85 Finn Lite, and a Tikka 595. They work perfectly, and I appreciate them for what they are, but the Win FW is American Beauty AND flawless function!

Just bought a new Featherweight in 308; wood, blue, beautiful. Put Leupold vx3 2.5-8 x 36 on it. After abt 20 rounds breakin, shot .50 MOA with Fed fusion 150's. Just can't decide who to leave it to in my will!
