Striker Fired: What am I Missing?

Edit: didn’t mean to double post. Didn’t think my first attempt posted. You could be missing out on a good selection of micro nines if that niche appeals to you. Otherwise I’m not sure it matters to average shooters. I prefer the feel and more commonly included manual safety option of...

Striker Fired: What am I Missing?

I have a fondness for the feel of hammer fired designs and I like a safety on a carry pistol. I am not skilled enough to see a practical difference in performance just due to the difference in feel though. Really happy with the Ruger Max 9 striker fired, but pretty sure I’d like any micro 9 in...

    Nashville Glock store- my experience

Sounds like my kind of place. I love places with a lot of stuff to look at and things to do where people will let me explore at my own pace. I go to Nashville occasionally, but haven’t had the opportunity to check it out yet. I enjoy Lenny Magill’s content online too.

    Kimber KDS9c Thoughts

Only thought I have having only seen it on YouTube is that I really want one. I like the idea of an aluminum grip frame more than the polymer grip modules of the 2011 styles. All spoken out of ignorance though since I haven’t shot any type of single action double stack nine - not even a Hi Power.

    Movies, finger off the trigger!

I will admit that I always look to see what model is being used and I sometimes look to see if a single action is cocked or not, but I never pay attention to the trigger or round counts in movies.

    Why all the Bond love?

I don’t own one, but always have wanted one. I have a strong preference for pocket carry over any other form of holster carry - even if it is heavy in the pocket. I haven’t bought one only because it has such a specialized use, but having a small .45, .44, or .357 caliber available is...

    Manual safety: A big deal?

I like manual safeties on carry guns, including those carried for hunting. I wanted an PDP for a long time until I realized they didn’t have a safety option. I understand, since modern teaching says no safety is better, but I swim against that current. Other than my carry, my range guns are...

    Which .40 for carry?

I carry a P229 in .40 on occasion. It’s an oldie without a rail that was my primary carry, but I moved to a smaller 9 with an optic. The P229 has tritium sights that lost their glow a long time ago, but I added a laser guide rod and have been carrying it again in a Summer Special holster.

Guess we know who won the micro 9 battle ;) PSA Ruger MAX 9 on clearance 7/25/2023 $269.

I shoot the Max 9 very well and like the way it looks and conceals. It certainly is nothing fancy, but few of the Tupperware pistols are. Unfortunately I paid quite a bit more for mine, but have always been glad I got it. Haven’t tried, or want to try, any of the other micro nines.

Beretta Tomcat 3032 Inox (Reg vs CA compliant)

I’m not up to date on the Tomcat, but I’m pretty sure California requires a magazine disconnect safety and loaded chamber indicator.

Might as well show off the 357SIG's

I wouldn’t either. Often thought about buying the barrel for my P229, but the .40 ammo has always been cheaper and I’ve just never made the move. I still think I will try it at some point soon.

If You Could Have Only One Carry Piece For SD What Would It Be?

I’ve mostly only had one. SIG P229 in a Summer Special holster. The original Trijicon night sights lost their glow years ago, but I installed a laser guide rod and it keeps on trucking. I may be one of the few hangers on with the .40 S&W.

    Which 10mm?

Only one I have is a G20 Gen. 4. It’s also the only Glock I have. I don’t hunt, so that is not a consideration for me. I like the weight, size, capacity, and accuracy well enough that I stopped right there with the 10mm. Ammo and components are just too expensive to take on more to feed...

New Guns, Clean them first or no?

I always clean first. I don’t do a detail strip, or even understand why some do so with a new gun, but I do a field strip, clean, and oil.

Who Else Has Finally Figured Out That Sub-Compacts Are a CCW Handicap?

Short fingers here. I actually shoot my Max9 better than most larger guns. For that reason, I won’t be rebounding to something larger. It’ll be the Max9 until I wear it out or run into some functional issue with it.

    Ruger Redhawk vs M629

I like magnums more from having the option to shoot high energy loads if I want to, but most of the time I don’t want to. The strength debate doesn’t mean much to me personally. I like the looks of both, but am more drawn to the 629 and so that is what I have. I also love what I perceive as...

    .41 Magnum vs. .45 Colt

I think both are great. About the only real difference is that the .41 Mag can send hollow points further down range at effective velocities if that is desired. I have no experience, but my understanding is that a standard pressure hard cast .45 Colt wadcutter will take down most anything. If...

Why I No longer Own A .41 Magnum

About 10 years ago I decided I wanted an older Model 29, but pricing was already getting higher than my want at the time. Saw a beautiful Model 57 for a great price and bought it instead. Love the thing and load for it to shoot a lot of 210 grain Keith bullets right at 900 fps mostly. Have...

    S&W key?

Never used mine for anything. I suppose it would be good to have one in the event the lock self-activates, but I haven’t had that happen so far.

    Your Favorite Ruger & Why

2-3/4” Security Six with the original grip. As much as the world hates that tiny grip, me and my stubby fingers love it. Small and handy, yet I shoot it as accurately as any full size handgun I’ve tried.
