Massachusetts. Within a 15 mile drive there are some half dozen sportsman's clubs with ranges (members only), and that many gunshops, at least two of which are Class III dealers. Gun unfriendly state, but it could be a lot worse.

The SN indicates 1943 manufacture. The magazine is correct, General Shaver. I find no information on the barrel stampings you describe, which suggests the barrel may not be original.
Early RR pistols sometimes had Springfield Armory or Colt barrels. Normally they have High Standard (HS)...
Agreed. If you live in a town where the chief is reluctant to issue ALP LTCs, the more ammunition you add to your application, the better. Take at least a full day handgun course, one that is recognized by the Mass. State Police as valid for LTCs. You should receive a certificate with a State...
Struck out on this one. Four companies used the D20 Ordnance code; all were French and Spanish pistol makers.
920 is more interesting, since it was used by five German and Austrian holster makers.

What's that WaffenAmt number on the holster? Or is it a letter and number? I can't read it from the photo, but if you can, I'll try to find the manufacturer.

It's a DWM (Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken, Berlin) copy of the Browning M1910.
Introduced in 1921, the wooden stocked pistol was the M22, black plastic the Model 23. Produced into the late 1920s, 40,000 or so.
Nice looking piece.

Welcome to THR, by the way.
It's of a type called a suicide special, probably made by Hood Firearms, Norwich, Conn., 1873 to 1882.
Usually, Hood revolvers have rifling only in the last half inch of bore at the muzzle, while the rest is smooth.

As Boom-stick said. But it applies, IIRC, only to Great Britain, not other parts of the UK such as Northern Ireland, where it is legal to own modern handguns according to posts I've seen.

Ruger Blackhawk is a good choice, since it has an adjustable rear sight.
The longer the barrel, the longer the sight radius, and thus the better for long range shooting.

As you see, there is no such thing as quick or easy when it comes to laws in the Bay State. We've been writing statutes here since the Mayflower Compact was signed in 1620, plenty of time to make a proper muddle of things.:)

According to most wildlife biologists, wolves are not dangerous, except to prey like rodents and deer. The man who operates Wolf Hollow gets into a pen with six or eight and plays with them. These are not wild, of course, but they are still gray wolves.
