    Not impressed with Lyman's manual

For what the lyman manual was designed for, it doesnt matter if the load data is 115HP or 115fmj. Standard rule of thumb is to work up a new load in changing componates. Lyman is a guide for safe window. As time goes on and you accquire more experiance itll make more sence to you as far as stuff...

    SAA barrel and sight

Ya I thought about that but like you said it wont look as nice and im also worried about drag in the holster or catching on something. The factory sight is smooth all around so it just glides nicely

    SAA barrel and sight

Ya I agree. Kinda why I was just thinkin of doin it myself..My ffl dealer(s) are brothers and own a gunshop and both are amazing gunsmiths. They both were the head smiths at the NH ruger plant, which is only 20mins from my house, but they dont do much machine work anymore because there both in...

    SAA barrel and sight

I have a EMF 1873 SAA with a 5.5in barrel. I don't participate in any kind of matches with it or any of my other SAA's because there just isn't any around here close enough. However I do spend a lot of time at the range with them doing quick draw and such. This particular SAA is chambered in...

Where to get a good custom stock?

There are A TON of nice stocks out there for under $200. That can be absolutly beautiful and keep the gun just as accurate if not improve if your a do it yourselfer. Ebay always has some nice small and large ring sporter stocks that may or may not need to be stripped down an refinished (you'll...

Seriously. I just got done saying for no one to bother, it isn't worth the aggravation. Also, in the original post I asked politely, said I would be greatful and said thank you. The conversation is over and we've all moved on, so shut your mouth and do the same.

    357 mag & 44 mag-What do you use?

41 mag, I think you watch to much tv....The woman I spoke to at cci a few years ago assured me that the only difference between the 2 were cup thickness, however the only 2 calibers ive used the rifle primers in are 357 and 44mag and they've always seated flush, I guess that's why I bealived...

    357 mag & 44 mag-What do you use?

It doesn't matter weather your using a small rifle or small pistol, your load is going to be the same. The only difference between the two is the metal cup thickness. For an example:357mag, 44mag, 44-40, 45colt are all popular calibers for cowboy action guns. Weather it be ruger single actions...

    357 mag & 44 mag-What do you use?

Ya. Ive heard of some people avoiding it for handguns because of possible ignition problems. I only have 1 handgun in each caliber, the 357 is a uberti cattleman and the 44mag is a ruger new vaquero and I haven't had any problems as of yet but I don't think ive used anything but CCI's. I have a...

    Speer reloading

I appreciate it archangel, I'll look into that. I try to buy on ebay as little as possible and when I do its for an item that I would have extreme difficulty finding anywhere else. One of my local gunshops had a few for sale but they were sold when I went to get one, and I haven't found any...

    357 mag & 44 mag-What do you use?

I've always loaded 357mag and 44mag with rifle mag primers. Small rifle mag, and large rifle mag have always been easier to come by and a little cheaper by the brick than large and small pistol mags. I've always had good luck with them both. Anyone else do the samething?

    Need a good/fast case trimmer

Maybe a small dab of blue locktite would help? Either that or take the screws out an give them a couple wraps of plumbers tape. Atleast you wouldn't have to chase them anymore.

That's correct, lyman has a big list off all kinds of bullet weights and powder charges for a big wide range of calibers in both my 43rd edition and 49th edition manuals, along with my 3rd and 4th edition lyman cast book. "long enough to know", sorry but offence is taken, I don't need anyone to...

can anyone recommend a good source of load data for the 7.62x39mm

That's something you'll most likely have to get from a few different resources. There are a lot of good places online to get that info. You can buy the "complete book of reloading 7.62x39" but there not that good IMO. For cast loads, castpics.com is gonna be the best place to look, as for your...

    Speer reloading

I bought a 16oz pump spray bottle of Hornady one shot, Ive always bought the aerosol cans but the hand spray was a better buy for the money, and its always leaked. When you pump it it leaks down the pump handle a little bit and if you squeeze the bottle by mistake, it leaks out and sprays. So I...

    Speer reloading

Good advice. I've been reloading long enough to know what looks right an whats suspect. That's why I'd rather a picture of the page rather than someone typing it out. But that's good to know that they'll give me what I'm looking for. I really really like speer bullets! I always get good results...

Do you remember your first handload firing?

I remember it well. I'm sure not many 27 year olds can say they've been reloading for almost 15 years...My parents bought me a Lee single stage press kit (which I still have) a RCBS digital scale, tumbler, one shot and a couple of RCBS loading blocks for my 14th birthday. Then over the next...
