    Should I complain?

Possum should not be allowed to teach gun anything. It is irresponsible behaviour. A pinhead with a gun willing to shock unprepared people. Yeah, we need more of that. I am surprised so many approve.

    Registered Magnum

This one was flogged at a small Indiana gun show for 4 hours before I showed up. I was fortunate that day. This picture doesn't show it well but it was stamped S&W .357 Magnum . That's the original name.

What can you tell me about this old Colt?

It is not a 1911. It could be a 1911A1, Government Model, or maybe Argentine. It was made no earlier 1927 I would think. Whatever it is, it is a shooter type so value is 400$ to 500 to me.

replacing my remington 870.. but with what?

How about a metric Remington 870. Howa built them for S&W and mossberg in the 80's. I have put over 5000 rounds the one with no apparant wear. Look for S&W model 3000.

SAFN - fn49 being ammo picky

The FN49 has adjustable gas vent. When ever a change in ammo is made, some thought should be given to adjusting the gas vent under the top front hand guard. Open the vent until the action will not cycle when fired. Close the vent after each shot until the bolt locks back, then close one more...

    Collecting vintage firearms

I would suggest Savage pistols models 1907, 1917, and 1915. They were built from 1908 to 1928 in 32 and 380. They are inexpensive, available, and fun to shoot. Shooter types can be had for less than 300$, sometimes much less. Then maybe a Colt model M since these were a competitor to Savage in...

Mistake with my wife at the range

I have the same problem with j frames. I put on some pachmeyers that cover the back strap of the grip. I had to do the same thing with my colt agent. The original grips would tear a piece of skin off the inside of the thumb at the base. The boot grips were no help since they don't cover the...

    1911 Is gettin Sloppy

Order a spring replacement spring kit. Such a kit contains a recoil spring, firing pin spring, plunger spring. grip safety spring, and hammer spring. If you can detail strip the gun, you can replace all the springs. Cost is around 20$. Or take it to a smith and have them do it. 10K rounds...

What the hay is .38 Auto?

Here is a Colt 1903 from 1912. I would not use 38super in it. I would not use 38super in any gun chambered for 38acp.

What would a Colt M1911 made in 1917 be worth?

If none of the military stampings have been filed off and no modifications have been made it is worth 700 to 2500$, depending on condition. Without examining it, value is hard to determine. a few hundred rounds a year won't hurt it unless it is in real good condition.

    Target Shooting in Indiana

If you are not law enforcement, you must join FOP as an associate/auxillary member. I am guessing that you live in Marion. There is a range at the old Huntington resavoure (sp). They charge a daily fee but they may have a yearly fee. I believe there is a RO on duty there. Deer Creek and other...

The S&W Revolver sought after like the Colt Python...?

The Colt most comparable to pre war S&W 357 Magnum would be the Shooting Master. Both were expensive 'top of the line' type models built by the best people the factory had. I think the Python is unique for a post war handgun. Here are some pics of a registered magnum (shipped May, 1936) and a...

Take the magazine apart and clean it first. It may be dented or dirty. New mag springs can be bought from Wolfe.

    Old Savage 32 auto

I use Winchester 32acp in mine. Serial numbers for 1907 model went to 220000 range. I would guess 1920s for yours. Parts can be found if you know what engineering changes pertain to your gun. http://members.aol.com/Savage/1907/ is a good site. Parts are obtainable from the owner of the site...

ID this for me: Russsian or Romanian Tokarev?

Look at the left side of the frame above the grip. The arsenal symbol, date, and serial number are stamped there.
