Water quenched bullets will only work provided arsenic in trace amounts is present in the alloy and current WWs don't have the arsenic in them like the old weights. You can sometimes find shot that has some arsenic in the lead.
For my .454 I use the SSK 340 gr. bullet form www.pennbullets.com...
255-260 grain bullets are hard on the frames of 1911s . make sure you run a good shock buff and at least a 18 lb spring. They do take bowling pins off the table real well though...
[ In that same category, be sure to check out Penn Bullets as well. Good stuff, reasonable prices and very helpful for both those places.

A big plus one for Penn. They offer a lot of speciality bullets that...
Obturation isn't needed if the bullets fit right as they seal from the get go. As long as the alloy and lube are up to the demands of what you are doing then it all works. My experiance is the same as LH with a a wide range of loadings and no leading issues to deal with.

Those are some of the roughest bullets I have seen. I can't see that they would do well at 25 and 50 yards. It would be good if you could test at those distances and report back.
www.pennbullets.com has great .45 bullets as well as everything else.I shoot literally tens of thousands of these every year. A quality product loaded properly will give you very little or no leading issues to deal with. I use WST and Clays as my two go to .45 powders. Very Clean.
