I'm thinking about getting into making holsters, so I need to get some dummy guns, of course. Which ones are reliable dimensionally? Which ones should I get? I"m thinking to start with Glock, M&P, XD and maybe 1911's. How many of the variations should I get?

Anybody use them? I'm thinking about ordering some for a holster I'm thinking about making. I'm making a holster for my Kahr CM9, so it's not like I'm trying to keep up a full size 1911, but I'd be interested to hear from some of you who've actually used them.

I own and like my Bersa 380 (normal version), but I never carry it because my Kahr CM9 is smaller and 9mm. If I were buying one, I would look for the double stack version. Or the BP9CC, which is getting good reviews.

Thanks for the replies, guys. As I said, these are pretty suburban areas, not Alaska, so the chance of seeing a really big, aggressive bear are unlikely. On the balance, I don't see a big reason to step up, as these are really pretty rare, but there have been 3 or 4 stories similar to this...

Black Bear roaming through Grand Rapids I live in the metro Grand Rapids area, and this raises a couple of questions for me. First, what are the chances of my 9mm CCW pistol taking down a black bear? I envision it being a pretty point blank headshot to be a legit self defense shooting...

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the Diamondback DB9 yet. It's only barely larger than a P3AT. Everything I read about it is that it's kinda hit or miss on the QC, though. No experience with the Boberg or the Rohrbaugh, but to my mind the price puts them in the boutique category...

I'm too squeamish to try appendix carry, personally, but if you're looking to go this route, look at the fusionpac. It's essentially a smartcarry with a kydex holster attached.

Here's the magazine carrier I made for my CM9 spare mag. It's made of pigskin that I dyed myself, and glued up with E6000 contact cement. It is made to ride inside my jeans back pocket.

My only issue with this idea is that I want to be able to control who knows I have a CCW license, particularly employers. My current employer knows I have it, but I don't think I want future employers to know.

Don't do it unless you really really want the Taurus and don't have the money to buy one outright. The Taurus isn't a bad gun per se, but the 64 definitely has more value.

This is a Glock/1911 issue. I'm not sure there is a definitive "best" option, due to differences in guns, waists and preferences. I think you stand a very good chance of being happy with either, just choose one and go for it.
