Please - A Couple of Win. 94 Questions

Carl N, Brown - Thanks for your input, but when I searched my computer for MSPaint and also for Microsoft Paint no results were found. Do you have another direction for me to go in? I have the Home Premium edition of Windows 7. 1066 - I looked up the “Legacy” model and came up with this 99%...

Please - A Couple of Win. 94 Questions

I grew up with the early black & white western movies on TV (circa 1949) where many of the cowboys were totin’ some model of the Win. lever action carbine. I had no interest in collecting these guns, but instead I wanted a facsimile of the guns the “heroes” of my childhood had. Because it was a...

Please - A Couple of Win. 94 Questions

I wanted a Win. 94 carbine for a long time and put it off until “one day”. Next thing I know, Win. stopped production of the 94 and used ones promptly started commanding $600+ in my neck of the woods. A short time later I went to a gun show and a guy at a private table was asking $250 for...

Extra CCW weapon ammo/mag. yae or nae?

When I wear belted slacks I keep a spare mag in a leather belt carrier with two slots. One slot for the mag and the other for a lithium battery, halogen flashlight. When I’m in sweats or shorts I have a J-frame or G-27 in a pocket holster and no mag or speed-loaders. I'm hoping that the...

Renaming the AR15 and other "Assault Rifles"

It’s all in the mind of the beholder and some minds you ain’t gonna change. On these issues you ain’t gonna change MY mind: Red States = Red Blooded American States. Blue States = Blue Balled Can’t See The Forest For The Trees States. MSR works for me also, but SUV (Sports Utility...

    Your Favorite Carry Round

AKElroy - Your energy estimate of "roughly" 500 ft/lbs is "roughly" 100 ft/lbs higher than Speer claims for that cartridge. To get 500 ft/lbs of energy from a 124gr bullet you have to move it at 1350 fps. Speer quotes 1220 fps and 410 ft/lbs of energy. Still serious stuff though...

    Your Favorite Carry Round

9x23 Winchester - At 1450 fps with a 125 gr. bullet, it’s an easy to reload (no bottleneck case like a .357 Sig) “.357 magnum” in a rimless case for a semi-auto platform. Mine is in a Colt Combat Commander that delivers 585 ft/lbs of energy and the recoil is extremely manageable, unlike that...

Jackson MS Town Council Pushing Local Bill To Ban Guns & Knives

I've had the misfortune of having to pick up prisoners wanted in homicides I investigated that were being held in Camden and Newark. If they wanted to give New Jersey an enema, that's where they would insert the tubes!

    Hiding spots for firearms

The fact that almost 1 in 3 people in the U.S. have at least one firearm is all the encouragement any burglar would need to search diligently for one or more guns. Mr. Thompson's parent's reasoning for the visual placement of a non-functional firearm is not meant to dissuade a further search...

    Hiding spots for firearms

Al Thompson - "J-Bar, my Dad had a broken handgun almost visible from the front door. It was there so my Mom, upon entrance, could determine if they had been burgled. If it was missing, her next task was to get out of the house and over to a neighbors." What a great idea! Thanks for...

    New Browning

I used to shoot skeet with a guy that had ejectors on his O/U and he would just catch both hulls in mid-air when he broke the gun open. I thought it was too cool... and no I didn’t ask how much practice it took to be able do that!

    Hiding spots for firearms

This would be a good time to re-visit a great movie. The gun was hidden between the tank and the wall.

Bought new AK Opap, found this muzzle damage. Opinions wanted.

I bought an AK with damage to the muzzle -- 8” groups at 100 yds. Recrowned the muzzle for $25 -- 3” groups at 100 yds. It’s now a "certified" AK National Match Rifle! Cheap fix.

Moving My Machinegun To Another State…

SharpsDressedMan & Darkbob - I checked online, but just to be sure I paid a visit to the local sheriff and he said it was okay to possess it as long as I was the legal owner and that I didn't commit any crime that would bar my having it after I initially got the machinegun. Jim K - The...
