Well my favorite pistol right now is my USPf 45.
The only thing I don't love about it is that I OFTEN will accidentally decock the pistol when trying to just take it off safe.
:banghead:
I can see where it would be very hard NOT to do this under stress. I've thought about changing it...
The AR Magazine System is the best
I'm glad you were upfront in saying you had no combat experience and almost no experience in handling these 2 weapon systems.
Your assumption on which is best shows that.
The AR magazine system is better than the AK one.
The AR magazine...
Here is the easiest way to get a Sniper's Rifle:
Option 1: Join the U.S. military (USMC or ARMY preferably) and get a primary MOS as a Military Sniper.
Option 2: Become a member of a Law Enforcement organization and get slotted as a Sniper / Counter Sniper / Precision Marksman...
I feel your pain.
I'm a NYC native that is currently residing the California. Despite what non-California people post about the gun laws sucking here, they sure are better than the NYS/NYC laws!
:banghead:
For personal defense while out & about, I think something like a Leatherman Wave...
For my precision rifles, I only use a 1 piece cleaning rod.
Why try to save $10 and possibly degrade the performance of my $2-400 barrel on my $1-3,000 rifle?!?
 :banghead:
And I don't bother to clean my non-precision rifles much so...
I'll say if no one else has...
DIFFERENT TOOLS FOR DIFFERENT JOBS
You like light short rifles... fine. Others want or need something different.
Live it, Learn it, Love it or not.
I see lots of folks saying their rifle with a thin barrel is plenty accurate out to 200-400 yards and beyond.
Well anything under 500 yards isn't really long distance at all for military shooters. Heck, the U. S. Marines qualify out to 500 yards with their M16A2/A4's. :neener:
As some...
Sorry Bart but I for one wouldn't even think about buying one of these "bargin basement" items (calling this a rifle just seems... wrong). :scrutiny:
You want something cheaper?!? Make your own. If the current models available are out of your price range... save more $$$.
People were...
I'm a black man originally from NYC. I've travelled across this country 4 times and around the world 3 courtesy the USMC.
I've seen the best and worst mankind has to offer in almost every place. I've felt the sting of racism in the USA and abroad. It hasn't been isolated to one particular...
Wimps...
:neener:
I never had any problem removing handguards by myself in the USMC. And some of those were hard to remove.
Try removing one at a time.
Different tools for different jobs
It all depends on how you plan on using the rifle and what you want.
I have a Armalite M15A4(T) with a heavy SS 24" barrel. I changed out the carbon fiber HG for a Larue 13.2 (which is actually lighter) and find it great for range plinking. I have a...
Lethal Weapon
Everyone who's seen the movie Lethal Weapon will remember the scene at the range where Mel Gibson makes a smiley face at the back wall of the range.
Well, once...
a long time ago...
when I was in the USMC and shooting a couple times a week...
at an indoor range in...
Depending on what you want to do with it, I'd go with a compromise.
18" would get you decent velocity and keep the rifle fairly handy.
Of course, I've got a 24" barrel upper (Armalite M15A4T) that I love and have no trouble manuvering around.
;)
I've adjusted a couple of my stock remington 700 triggers with varying degrees of success.
I then spent the $$$ to put Shilen triggers to 2 of them.
Night and Day difference! The Shilen is outstanding in all regards. I like it more than the Jewel because its a bit more durable for...
SA TRP Operator: Jammed the 1st time I shot her due to no lube. :banghead:
Since then... 17,000 rounds without a jam.
USP Fullsize .45ACP: Not one jam in over 5,000 rounds.
USP Compact .45ACP: Not one jam in just under 5,000 rounds. :neener:
Anti-LEO person would say something like:
"At least he took one of the bastards out."
:barf:
But since I'm a level headed person, I say we wait to see what actual FACTS are determined before we pass any judgements.
SA TRP Operator 1911
Without a doubt, my most accurate pistol is my Springfield TRP Operator.
A very close second and third would be my USPf .45ACP and a Glock 22.
With either, I can do really cool things at the back wall of my range (25 yards).
Not all the facts are known yet so...
I'll withhold comments until ALL the facts are in.
One side of a story is just that... one side. I read that the police officer had to go to the hospital to get stitches in his head. Darn unlikely that he sustained those injuries after shots were...
I just shipped a 1911 via UPS less than a week ago. No problems at all.
If you search for "firearms" on the UPS website, you'll find their policies.
