I used to use my fathers Remington model 12 22 with 24" octagon barrel and subsonic rounds for squirrel sniping I mean hunting. The long barrel and subsonic rounds were very quiet in the woods where sound echos a lot. My Ruger 10/22 with 18.5" barrel made a lot louder bang even with the subsonics.
I would think the cartridge case would bulge or split in a vacuum. If air could escape the case or it was loaded in a vacuum then maybe not.
Escape velocity of the moon is about 3280 feet/second so a fast enough round could escape the moon entirely otherwise it would go into a temporary...
Are you sure its really bent. Looks like it may be a swamped barrel meaning it was machined from the out side to tapper it. I would have a gunsmith look at it. I would guess it is a slow twist barrel and is designed to shoot round balls not conicals.
