Fausti - Do they really "make guns to a price point"?

Perfect example of American made firearms being possible, with the right attitude; Beretta USA, in Accokeek, MD. They do the military and civilian 9mm Beretta handguns in a plant so clean you could eat off the floor, with US workers trained to take pride in their work and to be sure things are...

Fausti - Do they really "make guns to a price point"?

Hi Guys, Have been in manufacturing in the US since 1970, in lots of different factory operations, some involved in plastics, a few with ammunition and firearms, even got a chance to work with a fella named Dan Wesson making some plastic pieces for a towing winch he was building for a...

    12ga. slug barrel?

OOPS! The gun in the picture is a Browning BPS 3". There were 4 hunters in this hunt, and only one Browning, so somebody called it wrong. It does have a Hastings rifled barrel, as did all the guns used in this particular hunt.

    12ga. slug barrel?

Slug Barrels figures I'd drop by after the discussion seems closed. Oh, well. Another opinion, for what it's worth. some aftermarket barrel makers do a better job than the factory, since the only thing they have to sell is better performance. There are plenty of instances of a rifled barrel...

Big Green "BuckHammering" The Competition? What's with these Attack Ads?

Buckhammering on Lightfield Sooo, with an armory-sized collection of slug ammo, which are you going to be hunting with? ( I won't tell the Staties you're stockpiling if you don't tell on me...):) Saw an article in American Hunter this month that made a couple surprising comparisons of...

Big Green "BuckHammering" The Competition? What's with these Attack Ads?

Ran across a major PR campaign by Remington today, pushing their Buckhammer Slug as best in the West, of course, and wondered why there was a direct comparison being made to "the most popular competitor" when most ads just talk about how good the product advertised is, and not how badly the...

NRA American Hunter Rating Slug Shells?

Does anyone out there get the NRA publication American Hunter? I've heard that the October issue has an article comparing all the shotgun slug ammo available, with test fire results, etc. Would like to see a copy of the article so I can use it to determine which slugs are likely to be best in...

American Hunter Magazine Slu Shell Comparison?

Does anyone out there get the NRA publication American Hunter? I've heard that the October issue has an article comparing all the shotgun slug ammo choices, with test fire results, etc. Would like to see a copy of the article so I can use it to determine which slugs are likely to be best in...

How does one measure group size?

How To Measure Group Size bdutton, Works fine if everyone is using the same caliber bullets and not working to the "ring measure" method. In our contests we have to allow for anything from the .44 cal sabot to a .410 gage solid slug to a 12 gauge solid, etc., so measuring the outside would...

    911 or 1911?

Have a good friend, and happily good neighbor who is a police officer with over 20 years on the job, now mostly trains new patrol officers. His statement on the function of the police: "We are criminal historians. We write the after action reports when a crime is committed, 90% of the time...

I Think my ex-con neighbor is up to his old illegal tricks again

Felon for a Neighbor - What To Do? There was a house in our vicinity a while back that included just about all the fun attributes you are dealing with. In this case, in a fairly affluent area, an elderly couple went the nursing home route, and that agency made a deal with the state to turn what...

    Shotguns in Iraq

Same story here. We've got some relatives on the scene, and feedback is the Mossys, some old issue Ithacas and a few Remingtons are the tools of choice, all the high tech Euro designs have not fared well in dust/dirt/sand/heat, so its back to the basics. Not pretty, not techy, just deadly...

How does one measure group size?

How To Measure Group Sizes Well, Zak, looks like you've put your finger on an area of disagreement amongst the various target shooting Associations. Over at ASSA, the plan was to try to match up with the type of judging done in Bullseye competition, where the scoring is based upon shots being...

How does one measure group size?

Determining Group Size Coming in to the discussion a bit late, but it seems there is some confusion about group size measurement here. Our games are mostly all based on 5 shot groups fired at 50 or 100 yards. This does not lend itself especially well to caliper measuements since nobody's...

    NRA...YES or NO

NRA Yes or No? While we're all on a roll, just wanted to ad another $.02 worth about some pals of mine offering to subsidize NRA sign-ups. If you go to the NRA Page at www.slugshooting.com, you'll find they are giving away 2 years worth of membership dues to anyone who joins or adds a year to...

New Competition For Shotgun Slug Shooters

I parked this following post on the Competition Shooting Board a couple days ago, and then got worried about it and asked the Moderator here if posting in this board would be OK. The answer was a conditional OK if we keep out any "crass commercial aspects" to the invitation to join our gang over...

    NRA...YES or NO

NRA, Or What? Just another newguy (New Here anyway) with one of those opinions that will likely offend 48% or so of the folks on this thread. I'm an NRA life member. I get to vote in all their little jurisdictional battles, and elect new officers, etc. Sometimes they manage to pry extra cash...

New Competition - Invitation to Join

Noticed a fellow posted back in May about joining in for the "Greatest Competition Ever"........ I'm not sure how that turned out, and don't want to ratlle any cages myself, but some pals and I have put together something we think is a good deal of fun, and as far as we can tell, no one else has...
