Take a look at the HI-point 9mm carbine. Its a blow back design that is easy on recoil has a small pistol type mag and runs about $300 or less. Its fun to shoot and factory ammo is realitivly easy to find and you can reload em.
I do understand about the differences in lots and temp and such. This is the reason I have all my books out to find a average. The test gun used in the Siera and Lymon are the same. My concern is that the Sierra starts 1-3 grn above the max of both Hornady and Lymon books.
The only thing...
I am getting ready to load my first 44 mag load for my Ruger. The Sierra load data for all 4 types of powder I am looking to try starts above every other books top end.
Why is the Sierra data starting above other book's max?
I would not use a 38spl to take a deer personally. It's just not enough at any kind of range. If you using it for small cridder protection or to put down a wounded dear that is down but still kicking you should be ok. If I were building a load for that I would look at a med weight hard cast...
I second the dud primers on Remington. About 1 in 15 for me, they do fire on second tap but it's really annoying. I have never had a FTF on any ammo before with this revolver and have no problems with factory ammo or if I load with the Winchesters.
The pistol was not my Primary, I carry a Ruger 77/44 .44 rifle and my Springfield XD .45. By the time I had a clear shot he was to close for the rifle so the Springfield took it at 15 yards. The Zombie round defiantly does the job, entered right side just behind shoulder took out lung and...
The insert prevents clogging of the the expansion cavity as it passes through your soft tissue target thus giving a larger more even wound track.
I used the Zombi-max (another version with the polymer tip) round in my .45 Springfield XD to take a deer last season. The round performed much...
My understanding of the Value Lee dies is that they are the same as there other dies but do not come with the shell holder or dipper just the dies. If you have the shell holder and do not need the dipper they are a better deal.
Thanks RC, I looked in my Lyman book (it actually lists pressures) and compared it to my Sirrera Book, It looks like a start load of 18.2gr of 2400 in a 357 mag case should bring the pressure up to those levels for that 110gr and are in the safe range. I will load some up sometime this week and...
Unfortunately the only reason I got the Blue Dot was it was the only available powder i could find that was listed in the book for the 110gr blitz in 38 spl.
I am looking at the book and in 357 mag I have a option of using 2400 I do have a lb of it, any thoughts on if this would be a better...
So I loaded up my first batch of 38spl and took them to the range. They did well and had only a slightly larger grouping but hitting the same group location as the factory .357 ammo I took along with. One thing I noticed was that I was getting unburned powder while dropping my empties. Can...
I know the powder system was working fine as I was charging and removing a round from the line to check the charge several time till it was dialed in before pressing my first bullet in. The only thing I can think of is that when I put the emptied round back in to the charge station to finish...
Well, I finally setup my Lee pro 1000 last week and reloaded my first 12 .357 rounds. My charge was based on the data from IMR's website.
.357 brass
.357 Hornady 140g JHP
11g IMR 4227 (Start load)
Mag Remington primer
So I painstakingly setup my press and dialed in my power dispenser...
