New old Pietta - BP newbie

Thanks for the comments folks! Prairie Dawg – thanks for posting that link. The code on my 1860 is BH – 1996, as I suspected! I was thinking the QC issues had to do with the gun “shooting loose”. I guess I was thinking about the brass frames. I am new to BP, but have been...

New old Pietta - BP newbie

A couple years ago I mentioned to my (83 year old) dad that I wanted to get into BP revolvers. Just the other day he asked what I was looking to get and I told him I'd really like an 1860 Army. He went to one of his safes and came back with this unfired Pietta 1860 Army "Lawman (fake ivory grips...

    Speaking of guns in movies...

...here is a cool site that lists, in surprising detail, just about every gun used in just about every movie out there! www.imfdb.org Just enter a movie title in the search box in the upper right corner!

Hidden treasures - older 22 LR

Another fan of the old Remington 51x series. Here are my two 510s, 511, and 512. Fantastic rifles. The modded 510 on the left was my first rifle, inherited from my grandfather in the early 1970s.

Thoughts on hanging a firearm as decoration?

Off Topic, but... 9mm fan, I love the framed Texas flag! I have an identical flag that is a memento of the time (1963-1969) i lived in Amarillo. I've been thinking lately of how best to display it, now I know! Thank you!

    A Confession.

You referred to you wife as "a cop" and referred to your gun as "she/her" 15 times. So I hope the cop is OK, and you got her cleaned up nicely ! :)

Must Have Books for your Bench...

Books, schmooks. I just ask Katitmail what he does. Seriously, Lyman #49. And seriously, I'm glad Katitmail is 250 miles away from me. I'd sure hate to find myself on the same range as he.

You get 1k to buy a firearm. What would be going home with you?

    A "pre-loved" AR-10 for me, thanks! :)

    Letter From Jay Rockefeller (D-WV)

Looks like a standardized form letter. I doubt he actually wrote it.

How do you store/secure your ammunition?

40mm ammo cans. Just tonight I scored a bunch of HUGE - maybe 1 lb. each - desiccant bags. :) One for each can with a bunch left over!

If I was going to cast bullets

As an electrician, I occasionally take (legally gotten) scrap copper to a local metal recycler. After striking out at all the local tire shops, I asked the recycle guy about lead - he said he'd sell me all I wanted for the same price he pays - currently (last time I was there) $1.00/lb. Copper...

    I Worked For It!

Great score! A few years ago a bowling alley near me went out of business. I heard the lanes were all sitting outside in pieces, free for the taking. Unfortunately, I heard this about a week too late. By the time I got there, there wasn't much left except some scraps that would have been more...

Missouri Legislature Nullifies All Federal Gun Control

I, for one, did not wait for my elected representatives to consult with me regarding my opinion. I called, and e-mailed, and sent paper, letting them know exactly where I stand. I am happy that they received my messages.

    rear sight for Marlin 1894

I really like the Williams on my Marlin 444. Easily adjustable and didn't need to change the front sight. I thought about a tang sight, but they look rather fragile in comparison. Especially in brush, and less to snag on. 100 yards no problem.

Any reason not to move to Missouri?

    Sorry 'bout that...;)

Any reason not to move to Missouri?

Midway is half way across the state, in Columbia. And I don't think they have a showroom/sales floor, so moving to Missouri means OP would start paying tax on purchases there :(

I found all the missing ammo.

I was in three LGS yesterday - all had ammo and firearms. I saw plenty of 9mm, but I wasn't looking for ammo so I really didn't pay much attention. One thing I DID notice - one store had just received several cases of new Federal .223 packaged loose in ziplock bags. It looked like packaging...

    GunBroker.com question

Update - I called his listed phone number today and he answered. Said the item either shipped Monday (no email or tracking info), or would ship today. Checked my mail on my way to work tonight and there was my item! Timely shipping, well packed, but poor communication. In the end, I'm happy...
