After seeing what some of you guys have I guess I'm a light wieght. I like to keep 1000 loaded rounds of what I shoot alot of and 500 cases ready to load. I load for 8 handgun calibers but some of them like 41 mag I only have 2 or 3 hundred loaded rounds for. I guess I probably have 7000 loaded...
I wouldn't mess with it, should shoot pretty good . A tight fit is a problem when it gets dirty but for carry just keep it clean. I have a few that are that close and have never been a problem. I'd rather have one on the tight side as the loose side.
the early 629s had stainless lockwork that proved to be to soft so if you were going to shoot it alot you might want to avoid these. Great collector interest though. Someone can probably tell you the serial number range of those, I don't know.
Something like the Dan Wesson revolvers but with interchangable cylinders and barrels. 1 revolver that you could have a 45c, 44 spec., or 38 spec. cylinders and barrels for in different lengths. I'd be happy with that. Forget the plastic. You could even offer custom bore cylinders and barrels...
Make sure the chambers are clean and try each one. You could slug the barrel and each chamber. Don't assume anything about the bullits or the gun, on the other hand if it shoots good why worry about it. It's when it doesn't shoot good that you start looking for a reason.
Around here, Mo., less than 35 is ok, over that and I'm not buying. I usually pay 32 per 1000 for SPP or LPP. I have a decent stock of primers so I don't have to have them if I think it's to high. When things calm down I'll stock up big time on everything.
There is alot of information about pet loads, I'll start with one of those and depending on the results I may tweak them some. I'll load 50 rounds usually so I can really test them in my gun. I never load hot stuff, just target loads so I'm not concerned with pressure. The exception being 9mm...
I've had my beam scale at least 25 years and it was used when I got it from a friend. It doesn't have a brand name on it, it's black wrinkle and looks kinda like an RCBS, anyway I've thought about replaceing it several times but every time I've checked it it's right on the money. Kinda wish I...
I wouldn't want to put alot of money in a model 10. I also wouldn't sell a gun that had a problem without telling a buyer about it. You're kinda between a rock and a hard place. Seems like about the only choice you have is to fix it, I'd call S&W and see if I could send it to them for repair. It...
I just got back from a gun show, got CCI LPP for 31 bucks a thousand. Saw some decent prices on nice revolvers. Of course there was the normal PITA stuff to deal with too. Saw a couple tables selling used brass for more than I can get new starline for. Several guys walking around with ARs . I'm...
One of the most deadly gun fighters of the old west, Wild Bill Hickock, carried a pair of navy 36s which is about equal to a 380 and seldom needed to fire more than once. Granted there weren't any semi autos around but there were certainly more powerful calibers availible. What he did do is...
What the police do and what we may need to do are vastly different things. If you are going to carry then you need to be able to hit what you're shooting at. Detectives carried j frames for years and they were much more likely to need that j frame than we are. To get back to the original post...
My favorite because it has a lot of loads for lead. Sierra is just about all jacketed loads. I picked up the new Lymans at bass pro, 29 bucks. I wish somone had a manual dedicated to lead bullits since 95% of what I load is lead handgun bullits.
Don't take this the wrong way, why does a LEO get a discount ? I really am curious, I can certainly understand a volume discount but a LEO is really just a workin man like everybody else and it's a hobby for him to. Some LEOs get paid pretty well, how about a cranky old guy discount.
There are places that are selling primers for the same price they were charging a year ago. I see know reason to let the gougers get to me. If the price had gone up everywhere then ya do what ya gotta do but that isn't the case. Seems like things are starting to ease up alittle.
