(UT) Firearms Banned from LDS Church Buildings

I don't know (repeat know) if LDS Church security carry firearms, but the only two guys I know there are POST qualified (former LEO's). So I would be very surprised if they and some others who work there did not carry. I recall the announcement by the LDS Church in the newspaper makes...

Gov't Shutsdown - Tomb of Unknowns Guarded

I thank them for their faithfulness I add my praise to the "Old Guard" who remain steadfast in their duty. They bring honor to those who serve faithfully in the armed forces, both in the past, and today. Blessings on them all.

Pardon the words I left out of my first sentence... Another senior moment!

If you believe in the Constitution please read.

A few years ago my wife and I went the Washington D.C. area. I remember standing in the Jefferson Memorial and looking at the pillars (or whatever they're called-I'm having a senior moment) surrounding his statue with some of his writings inscribed thereon. I remember being astonished as I read...

Guns you wish they'd bring back?

I had a Colt Diamondback once. It was stolen. Wish I could get another one for my wife. It was perfect for her. Not heavy, not large, adjustable sights, 4-inch bbl., and a REVOLVER! She really has a problem racking the slide on a semi-auto.

    Kahr Handguns

My Kahr K-9 is wonderful for concealed carry. And I add my kudos for the trigger pull. It's the best I've ever felt on a DAO (double-action-only) handgun. When I can conceal a full-size handgun (most of the time) I carry a Springfield XD-40. But when I'm in a suit, which is fairly often, I carry...

    MSNBC fires Michael Savage

Savage was wrong. He just should have cut the guy off the air when he admitted he was a sodomite. There was no need to descend to the caller's level.

Need help hitting point of aim

I bought an XD-40 last week. My groups are pretty good, but I'm hitting off to the left. Somewhere I've seen a diagram of a target with explanations why a person's groups might be off-center - anticipating recoil, trigger pull errors, and so on. I've tried searching the forum for previous...

How is your spouse about guns.

Lemme explain something first. My dad was a wonderful man, but he hated guns. One of his best friends committed suicide, and the "gun was to blame." So although I went shooting a few times with friends, I never owned a gun until I got married. When we got married, my wife had never even heard...

The legal system is now our enemy

The Devil made me do it . . . First of all, I have a couple of friends who are attorneys, and I consider them to be as honest and downright good as anyone I know. And I know of others who are just as good. But I see TV commercials from two legal firms that smack of ambulance-chasing, and it...

    A Game or SD Practice

IDPA is a game... a serious game. A few years ago (OK, a LOT of years ago!) I remember reading about a "practical shooting" organization. When I got enough time and money to get into it, I realized that it was no longer "practical." The guns and other equipment being used were so specialized...

    Which .40S&W ?

I have a Ruger P94 in .40 caliber, and I've enjoyed that. But ever since I got my Springfield XD-9 I've been looking for an XD-40. Isn't it funny? Some places have XD-40's and some places (like here) they're very scarce. My son bought an XD-40, and called and told me there was another one for...

    Like pointing your index finger

Good and bad pointers These in almost a three-way tie: Ruger P95 (with Hogue slip-on grip points itself). Springfield XD (more accurate, points well) 1911 (very good pointer) The worst? Glock 19 (the worst for me - grip is wrong, wrong, wrong) Luger (not much better - not...

    Springfield XD?

Got an XD-9, want an XD-40! XD-40's are pretty scarce around here. I've been checking with three different dealers, and the XD-40's go out as fast as they come in. But one of the dealers will sell me an XD-40 for $379 when he gets some in stock. Can't wait! I've put a few hundred rounds...

    New XD. Ugly Pistols

Glock? Beautiful? Ya' gotta admit there are guns uglier than the Glock . . . the Hi-Point comes to mind . . . but I can't think of any below that. Yup, the XD-9 and XD-40 pistols are VAST improvements in looks over Glocks. Besides that, they shoot awful good too, and feel lots better in the...

    I can't stop watching C-SPAN!

I would really like to go to the gun range today. The weather is beautiful, getting up to about 70*, the sun is shining . . . But the U.S. House is debating and voting on limiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers, dealers, etc. . ., and I'm glued to C-SPAN . . . I'm so excited to see...

Just in case you needed yet further instances of liberal stupidity. . . .

When World War II broke out, my father working in the "arms plant" helping to make various armaments. I never knew quite what he was working on, because he didn't want to talk about it. Whatever it was, my mother said he worried about an explosion happening. Anyway, his job was part of the war...

    @#$%^&* bogus California handgun law

IMHO, the REASON Arizona doesn't have the problems California has is because their rights aren't as curtailed. I mean, Phoenix isn't what you would call a little village. Yet the Arizona legislature doesn't see fit to perform gun-ectomies on their populace.
