I just made my first batch of coating which should coat around 2200 9mm. The question is, how long will the unused portion keep before it goes bad or becomes unusable?
Just wondering if anyone has loaded these in their .40 SW auto pistol. Did they feed/function ok?
Load data is scarce so i presume i can just use data for the 180g FP and work up.
Thanks,
Dave
Just started casting and ran my first batch tonite. Whats going on with bullets like this? It seems i was in the zone for a while and some actually turned out pretty good. Im using straight range lead, Lee 6 cavity mold and Lee 20lb pot.
I was recently sorting through my stash of Misc. 9mm brass and came across some interesting headstamps. A few of them are familiar but most are not (to me anyway)
as the title says the slide on my RIA 9mm 1911 hasn't been locking back on the last shot. I thought that maybe my ammo was the culprit and it may be, however it's the same load that i've shot probably a thousand times but the last trip to the range this began happening. I'm thinking it's gotta...
I picked up a box of the gold dots to work up and after putting together a dummy round at the listed oal of 1.125, i just wasn't comfortable with 0.15" of the bullet seated in the case. Am i way off base seating these at 1.095 and reducing my charges 5% from published and working up? The powders...
Looking for any one who has loaded the TTSX in a .223 bolt, what was your experience (powder, accuracy etc) and would you use them on hogs?
Thanks,
Dave
Any reason i shouldn't be storing my plated bullets in old steel coffee cans? Just wanted to make sure there isn't a risk of galvanic corrosion that could potentially ruin some or all of my RMR's.
Thanks,
Dave
19g H4198 under 60g VMAX bullets.....The problem now is im out of 4198:uhoh:
I loaded this work up a few weeks ago and finally got to shoot them today. It was around 40* and cloudy and not a breath of wind. Im pretty sure the flyer was my fault. Im Happy!
Im looking around on the Hodgdon web site and came across the reduced loads section using Trail Boss powder where they explain how to develop your own loads for rifle and pistol using their formula. I actually have a pound of Trail Boss and was wondering if it would work in the .45 ACP...
Brand new .45 Pro-Mag brass
Speer 230g HP
5.5g HP-38
slight crimp
Brass is flaking at the case mount on several of the fired rounds. One case had a small brass wicker sticking up. This is a new bullet for me but i've never seen
anything like this. Is this a brass issue or is something...
Does anyone have experience with this combo? My hornady book shows a load with a 115G XTP bullet and N340, but i am a little skeptical since the last time i used the N340 i wasn't impressed with the results in my .45ACP. I'll make the effort working this up if anybody has had reasonable success...
so i buy this box of sierra 9mm JHP's and im going to have to seat them around 1.033" to fit my chamber/barrel, only problem is i cant find any data for this type of bullet that seats this deep. any advice?
Thanks,
Dave
Anyone using this powder for these calibers? I know it's on the way out but it was the only pistol powder that's been available for some time. Any thoughts or advise on its use would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave
Fiocchi case after the first resizing with a crack that runs nearly all the way around the case. You cound definately hear a "crunch" when the ram was raised. I resized the other 49 cases with no problems or sign of stress on the cases. Anyone else see or heard of weak brass or other issues with...
Im thinking about trying my hand at this again after a long hiatus.
My question is, what factory rounds do i need to buy to start building up a supply of good reloadable hulls? I mainly plan on shooting clay's, dove and other small game.
Thanks,
Dave
Obviously we don't want any but im finding that when i tested a half dozen WC dummy rounds that were chambered from the magazine a couple of them showed 4-5 thousands set back from 1.232, the rest were ok. Im using new Winchester brass and cast semi wad cutters with minimum flare and minimum...
