Books are nice, but there's nothing like having a good shot be your personal coach. Too bad you don't have family or friends nearby that can help you. Maybe someone on the forum lives close enough to coach you.
jrdolall, great post and well thought out. I have had to use a gun for self defence, fortunatly, just knowing it was handy gave me a sense of confidence that got rid of the perpetrator and I didn't have to pull the trigger. I'm just grateful that my gun was there. I was over 100 miles from...
How about a back pack? That would free up both hands, and I have seen them with rifle straps on them. While I was looking, I found one that also is a chair! Pretty cool looking.
If I get through the day with only a few stupid mistakes I call it good. As far as guns go, I am married to a gunsmith and I let him do the gun work. His most common thing is to drop a spring or other small part. Then he calls to me, "Honey, can you help me find this part?" So I drop...
I'm not a dad, but I sure enjoyed reading all these posts. Thanks to all you dads, it sounds like your all doing a great job and your hearts are in the right place.
Wouldn't it be great if we could bring back the freedom of the 'good old days' like carrying a gun everywhere and not being looked at like a criminal, and always having plenty of ammo available. And at the same time having modern medical advances, racial tolerance, and technology. Yes, I want...
We have ground squirrels here in Nevada. The local farmers will actually pay you to come shoot them out of their fields. Last spring my husband and daughter shot about 13,000 of them and even had a pair of hawks that would follow them around for lunch.
Old school here too!! Besides, computers can be frustrating and it may not be a good idea for me to be too close to a loaded firearm while fighting with the computer!!
You really need a middle choice. Zed isn't really a factor 'cause he will take componants or loaded ammo, I don't think he cares. And you can't grab a can of powder and head to the range, it has to be loaded. So I would load a bunch when I have time, then it's ready to shoot when I need it...

Sounds like it would make an interesting conversation piece until you can find out if it has collectors value. If it works good, just keep it and use it.
I for one enjoyed reading the full article. Most people want to treat the symptoms rather than the problems. The problem with the criminal mind set is that the changes needed have to come from within. Sometimes, even seeing a close friend or family member get killed in street violence doesn't...
Remember the "Big brother is watching you" movies from the 50s, or the book, "Brave New World"? A lot of truth in that old 'entertainment'.
I have seen some bills introduced that would force FTF sales to go through an FFL.
I believe in variety, but you do need to be comfortable with what you are shooting. Makes if much more enjoyable and safe. As far as "Regardless of how long you train or what you are comfortable with, I don't think any of us really know how we will react or what all of the variables will be...
