    All 9mm finally loaded! YEAH

I did 200 9mm on my Pro 1000 on Saturday. I did 200 .223 on a Lee handheld press, and 100 .308 on the same, on Sunday. My hat is off to you.

    sideways jammed primer

stacked the autoprime shellholder on top of a standard shellholder in my press. Decapped without detonation. My sizing/decap die ended up with the cartridge stuck inside, but then I just drove the decap pin and cartridge out of the die with a hammer. Now the decap pin is stuck in the mouth of...

    sideways jammed primer

Yep. Shell holder is trapped by the cartridge and primer. I'm thinking I can run the decap pin from my sizer/primer die through to push it out. Hoping it won't Kapow!

    sideways jammed primer

I was priming a bunch of .223 cases with my Autoprime XR. I felt resistance on one, and stopped. The case is stuck in the shell carrier, with a primer mashed in sideways. I took the autoprime apart so I could take the shell carrier out. Any suggestions how to remove the primer without...

    Done with Progressive reloading

It's like marriage... When I was a starry-eyed young buck, I dove head-first into marriage. Unlike many, I vowed I would make it work, no matter what. Yes, there were times when it would've been easier, and more satisfying to chuck it. I've been married 30 years, with much credit to my...

    Shot vs Buckshot load data

Thank you all Thank you for your help. Titewad is a very fast powder (Hodgdon ranks it #6 from fastest-to-slowest among hundreds of powders.) Too fast for "slug"gish loads. I won't "buck" the advice given here! Good news is that Hodgdon has a few loads (including one Speer jacketed round...

    Shot vs Buckshot load data

    1. Thanks to this forum, I understand that shotshell reloading is very different from brass cartridge reloading. There is no "start at minimum and work up." One uses the exact formula offered, other than maybe equivalent-wad substitution, and, if one knows what one is doing, similar hull...

    magnum primers for non-magnum loads

I can't find large rifle primers right now. I am using H380 powder, 168gr. berger bullets. I can get magnum primers, but don't want to destroy my Rem 70 or my happy visage. If I go with a minimum charge of powder, am I going to blow myself up using magnum primers?

Are there recent-manufacture pistols that can not handle +P ammo?

Does anyone know of a manufacturer who explicitly warns against use of +P ammo in their firearm? I find nothing in any of my owners' manuals.

    Never Mix Powders

Let me start by saying I have no interest or desire to mix powders. However, I wonder why this warning is so prevalent. What are the consequences of mixed powders? Do I need to vacuum out the feed hopper when I change powder types, just in case a grain or two of powder is lurking in a corner...

    setting bullet seating die depth

Thank you all Your answers are great. I will definitely save a dummy round that is seated to my satisfaction for each projectile I use. No powder or primer, just casing and bullet.

    setting bullet seating die depth

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm all theory (read a LOT) and no practice to speak of. I'm currently only reloading 9mm, and the snap cap I have is compliant with the SAAMI dimensions within 1 mil. I figured it was good for FMJ reloading, at least. With JHP, it would still get the OAL right.

    setting bullet seating die depth

What do experienced reloaders think of using a snap cap as a 'tester' for the bullet seating die - pull the lever on the press, and stop when there's resistance; if the die isn't touching the shellholder, back it out. If it touches the shellholder and isn't pressing the snap cap, dial it in...
