    All Bren Mags are Pre-Ban?

Acera, I admit that using 30 round Bren mags in a FAL is a bit of a novelty. But it is a kick to go through 30 rounds without changing the mag. The original .308 Bren mags can be used in Inch FALs. Some company took these mags, filed down the front tab or lip so they will fit into Metric...

    All Bren Mags are Pre-Ban?

Trebor, I am selling two Inch Bren mags for $100 the pair on Gunbroker. Auction is close to ending and I have one bidder. I sold my Century Inch rifle. I still have two Metric FALs and just shot them with modified Brens bought from DSA. Big lip on the front has been filed down to fit the...

    All Bren Mags are Pre-Ban?

I am selling a couple of .308 Bren mags for use in an Inch FAL. A quick check indicates that the .308 Bren was produced 1958-1991. I think this means that all Bren mags are pre-ban and would be legal in states such as New York. Please advise. Thanks, Drakejake

My Entry Into The Famous Black Rifle World

There is something to be said for a small, light rifle that fires a hot little round. Drakejake

    My FALs

That's what I thought. Would doing simple pipe soldering destroy the temper of the barrel? I can solder copper pipe. Thanks, Drakejake

    My FALs

I guess silver soldering the brake to tighten it up or applying permanent Loc-Tite wouldn't work. (Bleedover from another site: there I stated that the muzzle brake on the upper rifle is slightly loose.) Drakejake

    My FALs

I just sold the first FAL I ever bought: a Century Incher built on a Century receiver. I now have two FALs left. The one at the top in the photo is an M444 with Imbel Gear Logo receiver marked IAI, Liberty Arms, and Pacific Armament Corp. The stock, IIRC, is the X model from DSA. It has a...

Why is 5.45x39 ammo still cheap?

I like the 5.45 very much but I hate opening that Bulgarian tin and I hate the kind of prompt cleaning required when shooting corrosive ammo. So I bought some non-corrosive Wolf 5.45. My WASR-2 is an excellent firearm and was a great value from Aim Surplus at less than $300. Drakejake

    Is your AK compliant ?

The cited law prohibits YOU from converting a firearm, but does not prohibit you from owning a rifle converted by OTHERS, as I understand it. You can't do it, but if it has already been done, you are in the clear, with repect to THAT provision. If the gun is illegal, however, it could...

it's been discussed before, but seriously, what's the deal with online prices!?!

Prices are up in anticipation of stricter federal gun laws but the market still rules. Prices of many items listed for sale are speculative--they will not sell. I have seen ridiculous prices on Gunbroker and the other other sites in years past. I have seen rifles listed for four times the...

    SKS Detachable Mags

I don't like stripper clips or the SKS internal 10 round mag. The Tapco duckbills are pretty good but a previous poster is right in saying that they cannot be locked in unless the bolt is back. There is a way to manually lock the bolt back but it is a bit tricky. You have to reach into the...

    Are K31s really that unreliable?

I have shot a modest number of GP11 rounds through my K-31 with no misfires or jams. But I have a scope on it and there is a bit of an art to ejecting the empty with the scope in place. Great hunting rifle except for the weight and awkward safety. This is a beautiful, interesting design but...

    Mak 90 vs. traditional AKs

I have a Mak-90 with milled receiver and aftermarket drag stock. I installed a B-Square scope mount. Nice trigger pull, nice rifle, but I paid only $310 at the gun show a few years ago. Drakejake

    Smith and Wesson 2206

This pistol works well with a suppressor. You can buy an adaptor on Gunbroker.com and use it to replace the barrel shroud. The suppressor screws right on, no barrel threading required. That is what I did. Drakejake

    Smith and Wesson 2206

I own two of these pistols. Each is stainless and has a six inch barrel. I shot both in the past few days. I shoot cheap value pack ammo from Wal-Mart. I have been shooting Federal hollow point from 550 round boxes. I am just a plinker so I am not picky about ammo if it works. The last two...

    saiga 308 scope?

I have found it difficult or impossible to zero a scope on an AK type rifle with the side mounting bracket. I presently have Saiga .308 and .223. Maybe I just don't have the skills. Drakejake

Has ANYONE had a good experience with a Century Fal or CETME

At present I have two Century Cetmes and three FALs, one of them assembled by Century on their receiver. I think the CETME is a poor design using poor materials, compared to the FAL. But there are many gun nuts with infinite patience and and gunsmithing skills who love the CETME. More power...

10yr Old Shooting 1st time. Irons or Optic?

My experience is that using an optical scope tremendously complicates things. I like them because they work with my eyesight. About a week ago a friend and I shot with her 13 year old son. He was already trained in shooting, but I gave him some tips anyway. One of the firearms we shot was...
