    Eyesight changes...what to do?

I have not been able to clearly see my front pistol sights for about 15 years now. I learned to shoot with both eyes open, focus on the target, and superimpose a blurry front sight on the target. It works very well. I may not win a target shooting competition, but I can put a reasonable group on...

    LEO Off duty carry

Like others have said, check your local laws. In Kentucky, as long as you are not in a prohibited place such as a police station, jail, courthouse, federal property, etc., that sign does not have the force of law. If you are caught with a firearm there, they simply ask you to leave. If you...

Can't See my Handgun sights very well any more?

I have needed 1.5x readers for years. This is what I do. Keep both eyes open. Focus on target over the blurred image of your sites. Shoot and hit target. I guess this is what others here have called "point shooting." You really can aim, and it doesn't take any special glasses or gear. And it's...

Just made major progress ignoring conventional wisdom (front sight focus)

I started focusing on the target rather than the front sight quite a few years ago because I've reached that point where I can't focus on the front sight without reading glasses. And if I were wearing reading glasses, I couldn't see the target. I shoot just fine this way. I probably wouldn't win...

    External Safety vs No Safety

I'm with you on that. My wife and I are both currently carrying Beretta Px4s with the safety/decocker. When the gun goes in the holster, the safety goes off so the gun is ready to fire. We both feel much more comfortable with the heavier first trigger pull.

Post Cataract Surgery: Seeing the sights!

I have not read all of the responses so I apologize if I am repeating something already said. I have not had the surgery, but have very poor vision. I wear glasses or contact lenses to correct my distance vision, but cannot focus clearly closer than about 5 feet. I have switched to peep sights...

Availability of .25-06 with 24" stainless barrel

Weatherby makes .25-06 rifles with 24" barrels, and most of their Vanguard line are reasonably priced. I don't see one in SS, but they do have a "Weatherguard" model that should be more rust resistant.

    sighting in issues

Exactly what jmr40 says. I zero my .25-06 at 175 yards. With the ammo I use, my bullet starts out 1.5" low, rises to zero at about 40 yards, continues to rise to about 1" above aim point at 100 yards, drops to 0 again at 175 yards, then is about 1" low at 200 yards.

    Recommended .380 bullet for defence?

I believe the Shooting the Bull evaluation listed the following rounds as top tier: 1. Precision One .380 ACP 90-grain XTP 2. Fiocchi Extrema XTP(TM) 90-grain XTP JHP, part # 380XTP25 3. Hornady Custom .380 ACP with 90-grain XTP JHP 4. Federal Premium Hydra-Shok® 90-grain JHP 5. HPR...

Anyone use 5 Star speed loaders?

Yes. I have some for a GP100. They work great and have a nice, positive open-close mechanism. I also like the fact that the lock the cartridges in place turning clockwise, and release them turning counterclockwise.

Ruger GP-100 with 6 inch barrel

Both GP100s and SP101s are great revolvers. I actually CC a 3" GP100 with a large, loose shirt or a jacket. Otherwise, I'll CC the SP101.

    Glock 20 for grizzlies?

On the Buffalo Bore website, Tim Sundles has some great articles on guns, ammo, and shooting. One of the articles is "'Stopping' bears with handgun or rifle cartridges." Might be worth your reading. https://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_list&c=108

    5 Star speedloaders

I've been using 5-Star speedloaders for a couple of years now for my GP100 and really like them. In addition to what everyone else said, I like the fact that turning clockewise locks the rounds into the loader, and CCW releases the rounds. That's the way it should be (righty tighty, lefty loosey).

Aging Eyes, Open Sights and Target shooting with a pistol..

It is frustrating! My solution is to wear my contacts that are corrected for distance. I keep both eyes open and focus on my target through blurry sights. It actually works pretty well. Granted, I'm not shooting competitively, but for personal protection 50' and under, this will work. Since I...

A few questions about .357 Magnum and BBI test results

I have not followed the links you provided and so don't really know exactly what the test setup is, in other words, I could be totally wrong here. My guess as to why the difference in bullet speeds with "normal" gap and "no gap" is that even though the forcing cone or barrel is supposedly...
