    Nikon P-223 scope mounting issue

I had not considered the need to flex the bottom rail closed. I'm going to see if I can borrow an in-lb torque wrench from someone, and see what happens.

    Nikon P-223 scope mounting issue

A bit of clarification. I previously had a free-floating Monstrum mount, which had no problems. I also had a Brownell's one-piece mount, which also had a free-float design, which also mounted just fine. I'm thinking LoonWolf has the right idea that I simply didn't tighten the cross-bolts enough.

    Nikon P-223 scope mounting issue

I just bought a Nikon P-223 (3-9x40) scope, and opted for the one-piece M-223 mount. I don't have a torque wrench for inch-pounds, so I tightened it down a much as I dared on my Windham AR-15 top rail. Even with all bolts tight, the mount still moves front-to-back. Not much, but enough to be...

    Best entry level 1911?

I bought a Ruger SR1911 Commander just before Christmas. It has certainly dulled my love affair with my M&P9. Viagra and Cialis have nothing on a beautiful 1911!!! And it only cost $650.00!

    Hi Point Carbine

I agree with Schwing (and others), the Hi-Point is a truly underrated firearm. Yes, they're big. Yes, they're ugly. But most of all, they're accurate, cheap, and lots of fun! Enjoy your pistol-caliber carbine, and don't let anyone belittle you for owning a Hi-Point.

    AR gas tube-clean, or?

I'm really glad I read this thread. I'm fairly new to ARs, and I too have been running a long pipe-cleaner (soaked with Hoppe's #9) into the gas tube. I suppose it's a good thing that I've only run about 500 rounds through my new Windham. I won't be "poking the tube" anymore!

    What is the best 1911

I suppose the G.I. specification may be the reason, but I'm surprised to see so few recommendations for the Ruger SR1911. For the money, the Ruger would be my choice. Regardless of what you buy, if you don't like it you can always trade up/down for something else. Better yet, just send it to...

    First 1911

Taking advantage of dumb relative - SWEET! I'm glad you saved that beautiful R1 from the stupidity of your cousin. It looks like a keeper. Other than a couple of shotguns, and a Fieldmaster 22 pump rifle, I've had little experience with Remingtons - none with their handguns. Of the R1...

D.C. businessman faces two years in jail for unregistered ammunition, brass casing

This is the sort of thing that gives ALL law enforcement a bad reputation. It's also another reason I'm glad I am no longer a police officer. There was a time this would have been outrageously out-of-the-ordinary; but (sadly) this is becoming more and more commonplace. I'm glad I live in a...

    What's your "never buy" gun?

I agree, Hi Point firearms are mostly hated by people who have never owned/used one. They are ugly, heavy and not something I'd carry on duty. But they are also nearly indestructible. Check out IraqVeteran8888's video on U-tube - They had to work really hard to destroy a Hi-9!

    ammo on the shelves!

Lots of ammo and Gander Mtn 10/24 PM, Gander Mntn has lots of everything EXCEPT .22LR. The only problem is, it's all over-priced. I'm still ordering mine online! Case in point, Target Sports USA has 1K 5.56, 62grn Remington for $450.00. GM had the same for $599.99 + tax. I prefer to buy...

    What's your "never buy" gun?

I know this is an old post, but I've got to add my "two cents worth." After scrolling through several pages of "guns I'd never buy/own," I'm left with a couple of thoughts. First, there are apparently no guns worth owning. Second, like belly-buttons, everyone has an opinion on the best/worst...

    the Taurus PT92

Congratulations on an excellent choice. Negative comments by Taurus haters not withstanding, the PT92 is an exceptional handgun - especially in its price range. I know Beretta owners may disagree, but I think the PT92 is even better than the 92FS. Good luck with your new toy!

    Beretta 92 vs. Taurus PT92

I agree with many other posters, if money is no object, go with a Beretta. It is a tried and true weapon. Having said that, I must add that my Taurus PT92AF is one of the best 92-style 9mm pistols I have ever owned. I actually prefer it over the Beretta, though I do get a little miffed at...
