I am about to start loading for .300 Blackout (hold for applause).
I've noticed that XTreme Bullets has two .308 bullets available: a 150 grain flat-nose and 110grain carb. Can I use either for .300BLK? At least one person commented that they use the 150grainers for .300BLK, has anyone...
You may want to consider decapping off-press as there's a surprising amount of gunk that falls out. When I had my LnL that gunk would sometimes get into the primer slide area, causing issues. I tried the Lee hand-held press but it would fill up and clog after 15-20 primers, plus I had to...
Things to watch out for:
The priming system. I works fairly flawlessly until it doesn't. Usually this is related to the primer "plunger" making a small dimple in the bottom of the press where it's supposed to get support to push the primer into the case. Hornady should have reinforced this area...
Does anyone know which Limbsaver paid I should get for the AAC SD? I got part #10101 but it doesn't want to fit properly.
Additionally, what Limbsaver would I need for the B&C M40 stock/chassis?
I'm planning out my Dillon XL650 purchase(s) and am having a small concern about brass prep. My old press, the Hornady LnL, did not enjoy having the primer slide the least bit dirty so I took to decapping off-press with a Harvey Deprimer. This works out well as I can deprime while watching TV...
I just picked up an Ultra Heavy Duty Workbench from Sam's club for $200ish. The specs say it supports up to 1,000lbs. The top is 1.75" thick. The thing borders on the absurd for a reloading bench, really.
Should support two XL650s :)
@MachIVshooter: A friend was mentioning that I'd want to get my stamps in because of changes in 2015 with regards to gun trusts. My mistake for not being clearer and mentioning gun trusts specifically.
@Aaron: This would be for range shooting. The eventual goal is to add a can, preferably before 2015 when the rules may change. I had been eyeing the Gemtech HVT-QM, if only because it adds to the alphabet soup. I was also looking at AAC's 7.62 muzzle brake.
For what it's worth I use Hornady One-shot after running my wet-tumbled brass through a food dehydrator. I probably over-spray but I've never had a stuck case (for .223, anyway). It helps if you pop a bunch in a large plastic bag and spray away, then jiggle the bag so everyone gets coated.
Hi all,
I'm about to take the plunge and buy my first bolt-action, a Remington 700 SPS AAC SD *** BBQ alphabet soup rifle chambered in .308.
I know the stock is mehtastic and should be replaced with a Bell & Carlson or HS-Precision (I'm leaning towards the B&C Light Tactical for $290 @...
There's also the potential of dirty brass scratching your dies or dirtying your press. I know when I run my decapping sessions, my LnL is fairly filthy afterwards and requires some cleaning so the primer slide won't bind and the shellplate will index smoothly. I learned my lesson: don't stop...
You'll want to go with the Sheridan Engineering slotted case gauge. You can see inside to exactly where the cartridge does or does not fit properly.
It is, in a word, awesome.
Before! Clicky for biggy.
After! Clicky for biggy.
Tumbled for about an hour in a cheapy Frankford Arsenal tumbler with increasingly brownish media. Ran through my LnL to deprime and resize prior to tumbling; I figured that'd clean the primer pockets a bit, too.
