How significantly dies your crane/yoke move? When locked up, I can wiggle my cylinder around, though when I hold the crane against the frame the wiggle goes away. Just wondering the appropriate amount of play in the cylinder.

There definitely are some pricey AR's out there, but you get a tool second to none. Personally, I can't afford those yet. Got myself an older S&W for $800 a few years back and made myself another carbine with a DSArms upper and ccmg lower for under $600 I believe. Both have been superb thus far

I would absolutely LOVE to get a dan wesson cbob... As of the current however, I have a kimber TLE II. Surprisingly problem the only hand gun I own that has not had a jam. Wonderful feel, fit between the frame and the slide is great, overall just a great gun. Can't speak of their "high end" guns...

As an alternative to building one, shop around for a complete "used" one. Many people stocked up pre election and are now selling them off, though you can find VERY inexpensive stripped lowers these days. For the Upper, I'd recommend DSA ZM4. There may or may not be better deals out there right...
