Thank you. I started with 4 grains of HP38. I loaded 2. They shot well. I'll heed your advice and load a few more and check velocity. These are just plinkers anyway so right where I'm at may be where I end up. I had just not encountered this before so I was confused a little. Thanks.
I recently bought some 124gr round nose, hi-tek coated from Gateway Bullets. These are 356 diameter (verified) 124gr RN BB without lube grooves. The problem is, I have to seat them quite deeply in order for them to chamber. All the other 124 and 125 grain, both lead and coated, I seat to...
+1. This happens to be my absolute favorite load in my 1911. Fun to shoot and accurate.
But hey, if it doesn't work for you, stick with your 700x. Certainly nothing wrong with using what you like.
I was in my local Cabelas yesterday and they had lots of them. They run this sale a couple times a year it seems and last fall I bought 4000 lpp. Yesterday I got 3000 spp. I've shot a lot of s&b primers and every single one of them has gone bang. I don't benchrest shoot so I guess I can't speak...
While I have limited experience with it, and have shot it under a 200gr LSWC, I've found it to be quite dirty in my 1911. The outside of the cases are black, indicating some blow black, lack of pressure. I've increased the powder charge hoping to clear that up to no avail. But again, I...
I loaded 10 rounds each over 5 different charge weights for my 9mm over the weekend. Loaded a 115 grain Nosler jhp and will be testing consistency. Hopefully I'll get those shot this week and post the results.
I will throw another one out there. The Sierra 230grain jhp. Huge, deep cavity that expands wonderfully. In my gun, pushed with Unique, I found a load with an SD under 10 and flying over 900fps.
I had to walk uphill both ways in 2 feet of snow to school everyday. Lol. Remember that story? Used to tick me off when dad told me that. I found a box of Sierra 30 cal bullets of dads from who knows when. He paid like 7 bucks for the box. Ah the good ole days. And I dont even remember them...
Oh golly. Yeah. Won't all be the best at all applications but will work well in most. Bullseye. Unique. Red Dot/Promo, Titegroup, 700X, 231/HP38, CFE Pistol..
The Hornady book lists data for a 200 grain lswc. Unique starts at 5 point 8 grains and max is 8 point 6 grains. Picture available if you want it.
Also sir, thank you for your service to our country.
I have only owned 1 tumbler and it's the Lyman 1200 turbo. I like it but again, have nothing to compare it to. I'm hoping it lasts years. But when it does crap out I'm going wet tumbling, stainless pins.
The situation is most definitely improving. One of the biggest benefits I believe is the Clays line of powders becoming available. Clays has a huge part of the shotgun market. With it being made and imported again that should start taking pressure off of the others. I would tend to agree that by...
