Thank you all for the replies. I finally pulled it out of the safe and it's an S&W 637 in .38. I bought it a year or two ago on a whim, put it away and haven't seen it since. LOL.
I will take her to shoot it with some ball and lower power self defense cartridges and see how she really likes it...
Thank you for posting this thread. I go to Ohio yearly and I had no idea that store was there in Port Clinton. I can't afford anything in there but I'll still swing by in November.
She doesn't feel safe anymore and wants a gun on hand. She really likes the feel of my S&W 38 (or 357 or whatever it is - can't remember - never used it).
Anyway, I can give her mine or she can buy something. I am concerned about the recoil though and am not sure what to recommend. What is...
Whoever wrote that article is being so dramatic. Please show us one example of somebody getting away with a shooting to prevent a bad check from being written. Stupid liberals. Anyway, no, they will not pass.
The internet killed gun shows just like ebay and craigslist killed flea markets. Pre-internet you could find cool stuff cheap. Now it's a world market for everything.

I think the mods on here are generally overzealous. Molding a discussion into what you think it should be is a slippery slope and I think some of the mods may have fallen down...
Drive the speed limit. Don't let them search if you are pulled over. Make them get probable cause. If you are searched they can probably (based on state law) take everything without cause and you will have to sue to get it back. Stay in free states as you mentioned.
Congrats on getting our of...
There are alot of people that prepare for the possibility of a SHTF situation or aftermath of a terrorist attack. They conveniently assume that they will be at home when it happens. Unless you always stay within a few miles of your home, it's not a bad idea to have a rifle in your vehicle.
What...
As hickok45 says, spray it down and let it sit. The dirtier it is the longer you let it sit for.
It's just like soaking dishes. The dirtiest dish will rinse clean if it's been sitting in hot water for long enough.
This guy compared 33 products and wrote up a good article on them: http://forums.outdoorsdirectory.com/showthread.php/141077-Results-of-gun-care-product-evaluation
