Ruger Precision Rile, .308 -- it can shoot!

Surprised the PPU did so poorly. I have used PPU 168gr Match in my Howa 1500 HB and it does very well in that rifle - always sub MOA.

Do you keep more AR lowers or uppers on hand?

Stripped Anderson lowers are still $60-$65 in the shops near me. Mine are usually 1:1 but I may add some additional uppers in the near future.

Ruger Precision Rile, .308 -- it can shoot!

Berger 105 VLD Target works well in the .243 RPR Sierra 107gr HPBT Matchking also works well. If you have problems shooting from a bipod (mine doesn't) check the barrel to verify it is well centered in the hand guard. I pulled the one off my .243 and then put it back on and managed to get it...

Why is Beretta CX4 so darn expensive compared to an AR?

CZ with an SBR conversion is really nice but you certainly are not talking about coming in under the price tag of the CX4 if you are looking at that option. CX4 is inexpensive in comparison.

Can't see them on mobile app either.

Ruger Precision Rile, .308 -- it can shoot!

Nice write up/review. The RPRs are a lot of bang for the buck. I have a .243 RPR and a 6.5 Creedmoor RPR. After a bit of load development for each rifle, they both shoot 1/2moa or better. I do wish the triggers would tune down a little more. I haven't pulled the triggers apart yet to see what...

Why is Beretta CX4 so darn expensive compared to an AR?

Keltec Sub2000 is another option if you can find one. They go for $500 or less.

    Stock question

Boyd's makes a featherweight thumbhole stock for it: http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/ProductDetail/43A374D06110 I have seen quite a few of the black Savage Axis factory stocks sell for next to nothing on eBay and the like. One on there now for $40 which includes shipping....

    Which: Eddystone M1917 or Enfield No4 Mk1?

All valid points. I always look at firearms from a shooter's perspective and to Hell with collector's value as I am never selling it anyway. As such, worn barrels get replaced and sent to the scrap yard. Obviously, the end goals of a collector are considerably different and if that is what you...

    Which: Eddystone M1917 or Enfield No4 Mk1?

If the stock is in good shape on the 1917 Enfield go for it. The stocks on those are worth a small fortune alone. Also, if you need a new barrel at some point, Criterion makes them and they are readily available.

    Howa M1500

I have a Howa 1500 .308 with a 24", 1 in 10" twist heavy barrel. It is half MOA with decent ammo and a little better with my hand loads for it. It looks like they now offer it in 6.5 Creedmoor. That would be a lot of fun.

    Odin Ascends

I must have spent too much time looking at and playing around with ELR rifles as I didn't even notice the abbreviations. [emoji4] Very nice indeed. Tangent Theta TT525P? [insert drool here]

    Ruger LC9 vs LC9s

Mag drops. The LC9 I had was bad about that. The pistol is so small that it is easy to bump the mag release under recoil and, in my opinion, the spring used in the original LC9 mag release was too weak. My LC9s has a slightly stiffer mag release spring and that has not been a problem. I have...

    Budget-friendly, Improvised weapons/tools/devices

A good, thick leather gun belt is a pretty mean device even without the buckle on it. A single lash with the edge will break skin that is protected by fairly thick denim. On bare skin or skin which is just protected by a light weight fabric, I doubt it would take more than one good hit to send...

Marlin recoil pad: am I being too picky?

You might try warming it up a little with a blow dryer or heat gun. Don't go crazy with the heat but warming it up some might reduce those wrinkles quite a bit. If not, Limbsaver. Edit: both suggestions were already posted above so please excuse the wasted post. I am about half blind today.

If you were a classy Hollywood mobster, what would you carry?

Actually from my collection? Brushed hard chrome Colt Commander .45. The hammer, sear, hammer pin, sear pin and grip screws are gold but only because they were coated with gold titanium nitride around 1995. TiN on those parts has been extremely durable. Bad pic but...

Lol - I also noticed that. A couple of the others mentioned here in above might have made an appearance in one or two of Saxon's books as well.

The juice out of a jar of Jalapeño or Habanero peppers is a rather effective thin liquid to close up eyes as well. A small shot of it is also good for a fire breather martini if you are so inclined.

The Stainless Sharpie is also an excellent tool for wet forming leather when making a holster or sheath. The Super Sharpie works as well but you sometimes have to smooth off the edges with 1200 grit Emory cloth.
