Primary carry is my Sig P224 in 357Sig. Also have a 40S&W bbl for it. Also have a Sig P229C with same setup plus a Barsto 9 conversion. Have a Sig 9mm Legion and a Sig P229 40, 357Sig and 9mm bbls.
All personal choices, Ar or M1 Carbine , etc will do the job in a home PD. Comparing ballistics is pretty moot. If AR ballistics was that important then we should not have most pistols for home PD. I feel comfortable with a 22LR for home defense. Yes I have 9 1911 from 9mm to 10mm. Have 454s...
I have ~1500 SSA brass, some Federal and Hornady. Have couple hundred factory rounds for emergency, never fired a factory round. Have 3 uppers in 6.8 and a 700 bolt rifle.
I have always read that the 92s could handle fairly high pressure but was always leary on mine. Mine in 44-40 break down was actually before smokeless powder was common. Manufactured 1895.
+1 with oneounceloads
I rarely go tighter than light modified even when I was shooting trap. Most of the time I have left my skeet chokes in when I was too lazy to hunt up my other chokes and was hitting my doves (if I was sensible and shot at those within reasonable shooting distances).
In Texas under the travel law you (the driver) is permitted a loaded handgun in the vehicle as long as concealed (can be in console or seat with a newspaper over it) and DO NOT require a license or CHL. You of course must be legal to own the handgun.
And the Texas travel law applies to the driver only. If it is your gun and your wife.GF or buddy is driving (say relief driver), the driver should claim the gun.
