Holiday in the States, which ranges to visit?

Already got that on the list, did it last year and loved it, so we're doing it again. If fact, it's the reason we're stopping over in Front Royal. That, and the canoe-ing.

Wow, that's a really nice offer. I will check our dates when I get home, and see when we're likely to be in the area. Thanks for all the comments, even tinpig :D

Holiday in the States, which ranges to visit?

Ideally yes. Shotguns are about the only thing we haven't been limited on...yet.... so hand guns and rifles would be ideal.

Holiday in the States, which ranges to visit?

Cheers for the replies folks, I'll fire off some emails and see what comes back. Just the way the trip is, there will probably be fore time available towards the end, so any after TN would probably work out better. That said, we should be able to work things around. Should of said, we're...

Holiday in the States, which ranges to visit?

Morning all, Just got married and for our honeymoon we're going back to the states (we live in the UK). Last year we went to a range in NC, PSR range 37 I think it was called, and it was excellent! Static target shooting, but also what would probably be called action/practical shooting...

New to reloading from the UK

Good to hear! So, would I be better off backing off the seating/crimping die, so that it just seats the bullet, and then using the factory crimp die for the crimp? Maybe backing it off slightly so it doesn't crimp too much? Or, just use the seating/crimping die ad leave out the factory...

New to reloading from the UK

Hmmm, just been looking at the press again, it seems the dies are out of alignment with the ram. The die holder clicks into position at each stage, but is slightly off. Tried to get it on video... https://www.dropbox.com/s/39aqzqkpz8ajxhj/VIDEO0020.3gp

Hoping to use them in a Taurus long barrel (12" barrel) and 1894c Marlin.

New to reloading from the UK

Is it worth mentioning I'm using the Lee 4 die set, so have the factory crimp. Should I not crimp with the seating die, and just with the factory crimp? Used Midway cases are measuring up at 1.279" New PPU cases are measuring up at 1.272" Is that enough of a difference to cause the extra...

New to reloading from the UK

Thanks for the replies guys. I was wondering if perhaps I had the seating die in too much, and it was maybe trying to crimp before the bullet had seated fully. I'll have a play around with it and see what happens.

New to reloading from the UK

Update. :D So I finally got some free time so set about setting up the press. Just wanted to post up some pictures so I could get some advice. Made about 6 rounds (minus primer and powder). It's probably too hard to tell from the photos, but do they look ok? Am I seating/crimping too much...

New to reloading from the UK

I know of this generosity! I came over last year, flew into New York, 3 weeks and an awesome road trip later, flew out out Miami. Went to a shooting range in NC, and the people there were so helpfull. Shot all day and hardly cost us anything. Strange situation where another country has more...

New to reloading from the UK

Haha, I thought they might be slightly more expensive than your used to. It used to bother me, but I had to realise that if I want to carry on the sport I enjoy, those are the prices I have to pay. Same as .22LR, over here, a good price is £70/$110 per 1000. I won't tell you how much I paid...

New to reloading from the UK

I haven't looked into availability in depth yet, but do recognise the brands talked about in here. This is a popular reloading supplier for the UK... http://www.henrykrank.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=164_187&zenid=d86fc4dc44104cc80ab9d461a8089aff I wonder how the prices differ for you...

New to reloading from the UK

Bullets have landed! Think I can finally start making up some dummy rounds to get the dies set up. Quick question though, 95% of the bullets are fine, but a very small amount have had the lube ring chipped away, probably during transit. 1. Does it matter? 2. Is there anything I can 'fill in'...

New to reloading from the UK

So I've been reading the Lee reloading book, everything is starting to make sense :D The club I shoot at have some limits on muzzle energy and velocoity. 471ft lbs and 1400 fps. Jacketed bullets aren't allowed. For some reason I had it in my mind these were fairly tame limits? Maybe they...

New to reloading from the UK

I don't mind talking about how backwards things are over here, takes a fair amount to offend me, but I'll keep it on topic now. Might put a thread up later for you lot to poke fun at me :) There are guys at my gun club who cast their own heads, I've thought about it myself, but for the time...
