Kicking around trading the P229 for a 1911.

Rock Island Armory/Armscor makes excellent 1911's. I'm not a fan of Springfields, I've had a good one and alot of bad ones. Para's aren't a true 1911, trigger wise, can't just drop in parts. The Rocks go for 300-ish. I don't know what your gun is worth. I can tell you that Kimber makes...

    Question on Bullet Ballistics

If you can go to 6.8gr of powder and you are using 4.5, I wouldn't call that a "magnum" load. But in any case, the +P factory load is(or should be) operating at a higher pressure than your book loads. More Effective? You need to define that term a little better... more penetration?, mushroom...

    Charles Daly and Armscor 1911'S

If you have ever owned Armscor(Rock Island Armory) pistols, and Twigfield at the same time, you would only buy the Rock. I had ONE outta 4 Springfields that was worth it's salt. I LOVE my Rock Island. When you call Ivan down in Nevada he is a pleasure to talk to, and gives straight answers...

What does owning a 10mm caliber offer to the .45 ACP owner ?

OK, Here is your answer.... Since I have owned A multitude of 1911's and an EAA Witness in 10mm. The EAIRLY 1911 10mm's weren't strong enough, and beat the crap outta the frames and slides. I do not know about current production stuff. The Wit-less pistol is unfortunatly of the same flavor. I...

    Reduced .300 Weatherby Loads

As for the resizing operation. Necksizing, NOT full length is the way to go for several reasons. 1.) fire-formed cases are more accurate. 2.) Headspacing off the shoulder is a more positive method, rather than headspacing off of the belt. 3.) Lubing and full length sizing is a pain in the...

    bullet placement

I say ALWAYS hit the lungs and heart. I have killed almost everything on the north American continent, and am not a fan of the "break the shoulder" theory. It is my opinion that if you NEED to break the shoulders, you either have 1) The wrong bullet/gun choice for that animal. OR 2) A stupid...

Do NOT clean your 1911 bore. (long)

So For everyone here that is a member of the Tinfoil Hat Alliance, here is an interesting arguement for NOT cleaning your 1911's Bore. I have owned 3 different Makes of 22LR's, and have bought 2 different makes of Aftermarket barrels for a few of them. All of the gun manufacturers, and both...

    AR15 or Springfield M1a???

I like the M1a for reliability MUCH more than the AR. The M1a is also much more accurate, stock Vs. stock. As far as home defense?? Seriously, Confucious say don't use cannon to kill mosquito. Either of these rifles will probably make it clear across your house/apt. Not a wise choice for...

how do you clean your guns?

The simple fact of the matter is that it doesn't matter how you clean them. The only potential problem you have is, depending on your climate, you may need to be RELEGIOUS about making sure you get a coat of oil on the parts to fight rust. In my corner of the country, rust is a non-issue...

    WASR 10 AK-47

AK's are good for burning-up LARGE quantities of ammo, at no paticular thing, or for any good reason other than something to do. If you want to be able to shoot a minimum of 5,000 rounds without cleaning a gun, buy it, or any AK. The WASR's are exactly what they look like: A Communist Bloc...

    "You can't really hide a Tec 9."

That kid didn't have a TEC-9, but I understand the point. If you want to see someone carry one in the open, Come to Mesa. You'll find mine with me most everywhere I go. Geezer, If you are having real problems with it I might be able to help you if you pm me. MOST of the problems with getting a...

    Firing underwater

IF you listened to them, Mythbusters actually were comprehensive, and correct. The gun has to be under water with the barrel FLOODED. KB's come from pressure spikes, such as a non flooded barrel and the compression of air in the barrel added to the current powder pressure. Their shotgun did go...
