What have you done in the reloading room today

Is that the fabled Flint Glock?

Winchester 6.5 StaBall in the 6.5CM... how good is it?

That was somewhat true for me when I tested powders in 45acp. But, I found out what I liked and stocked up on it. I used some of the rest in other calibers, a few of them I don’t intend to buy any more. I did learn a lot in the process.

Need Help with 40 SW load

Mine was from the Hodgdon reloading web page. https://hodgdonreloading.com/rldc/

New Hodgdon load data website, do you like it!?

One problem I noticed recently ( before the format change) is with the reported barrel length used for the data. When they merged the data from Western, they did not include the barrel length used by Western, they only list the barrel length used by Hodgdon. For instance, Hodgdon used a 10”...

Ahh, I missed that. Even better!

New Hodgdon load data website, do you like it!?

One option that went away a couple of years ago was a way to find all the calibers for a given powder, but I just checked and it is possible to that again. Select a caliber, then select the powder of interest, then go back and un-select the caliber. Only the calibers appropriate for that powder...

    Question on annealing

I’m not sure, but I believe all brass is annealed at some point during the manufacturing process. The visible discoloration from the annealing process can be removed by tumbling the brass after it is annealed. Loaded rounds with visible annealing coloration may not have been tumbled after it was...

    45acp Primer Test Part 1

I did a primer comparison in 45acp a while back, using Sport Pistol powder. Normally, with most powders, I don’t see a huge difference between large and small primers (normally about 30fps) but I saw a huge difference when I tested with Sport Pistol...

    9MM brass…any preference?

Are you measuring before or after sizing? The length will increase slightly when sized. The only time I check case length is when I case-gauge the loaded rounds. If they sit too low in the case gauge, I may mark them with a red sharpie to be tossed after the next firing, or I pull the bullet...

    .357 powder.

For mid-range loads in 357, the only thing I would use is BE86. It is one of the least position-sensitive powders I have tried. For magnum loads, I would use 2400. Use regular primers.

Loading .357 Pistol and .357 Rifle

I’ve found N110 to be a great alternative to H110 in pistol loads. MUCH less fireball and muzzle blast than H110. I have not tried it in rifle loads, though. For my rifle, I had great luck with 300MP. It prefers long barrels, though, so you won’t notice any advantage in handgun barrels less...

30-30 load development and casual observations

I added a tang peep sight to my Win 94. That worked well for my load development, but I was only shooting to 50 yards. In one load workup I did, I had two groups with three out of four holes touching. I did mount a Weaver 4x scouting scope to a Rossi 20” 44 mag rifle. I really love that...

Adventures with the M95 Nagant, in .32acp/7.65 Browning.

That is why I like it. At first I didn’t think about loading for it, I had a bunch of factory ammo for it. But, it wasn’t that accurate, and I found out the factory ammo had .308 bullets. I don’t load hot rounds for it, but I do occasionally get a case that I have to tap out. I may try...

    Ruger 5.7

5.7 really pushes the shoulder out, A LOT. You can’t just bump them back 2-3 thousandths like you can with locked breech guns. Being a blowback action, the case is extracting immediately and continues while there is still significant pressure. I have an AR57 upper that I have installed a very...

    Vihtivouri powders

I've used N110 for a few calibers. Generally speaking, it works wherever H110 works. However, it take lower charges, so it may not be as expensive as it first seems. In 44mag, out of a 6" Desert Eagle, the bark and flash is very much less with N110 than it is with H110, for the same velocity...

Adventures with the M95 Nagant, in .32acp/7.65 Browning.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I may have to find a 32acp cylinder for mine. So far, I have loaded the standard Nagant brass using Meister 94gn .312 bullet, sized down to .310. Soft loads, about 800fps.

    Ruger 5.7

Yes, trim AFTER sizing. They will get longer when sizing. So far, I have had good luck reloading 5.7. I've had one case separation - it separated just behind the shoulder. Hornady 40 and 35 Vmax bullets, and True-Blue, BE86, and Power Pistol powders.

    9MM brass…any preference?

AMERC is one to avoid. And watch out for any with the internal stepped walls. There are some brass plated steel cases out there, check with a magnet. I think Aguila often have off-center flash holes. S&B have unchamfered primer pockets that can sometimes be a pain to seat a primer in. I tend to...

Want to reload for a Rossi .357

Not sure I understand the question. I did state that I liked the Zero JSP. We’re you asking about a different brand JSP? FWIW, I get about 1800fps out of my 16” Rossi with a charge of 0.5gn below max published charge of 300MP.
