My 63 year old Inland never jambs with WWII surplus magazines and some of them are a little banged up.
The commercial magazines are almost useless since they don't have heat treated feed lips.
When Sears Craftsman brand starts advertising that their wrenches are cast then we will know that it is just as good as forged. Maybe turbine blades are cast but you can bet that the hub which holds them all together is not. Yes Bill Ruger was a smart man, thats why his cast frames are quite a...
G&A did a carbine showdown in one of their issues many years ago, they compared 9mm, 40S&W, 10mm and .45ACP
The .45ACP was the only one that actually had a loss of velocity with some brands of ammo out of the carbine/smg length barrel.
The right .44magnum handloads out of a carbine length barrel can give a 300-400fps incease in velocity. I like to use a maximum charge of H110 and the Winchester 210gr Silvertip. I haven't loaded them in a while but they run close to 2,000 fps.

+1 on the M1 Carbine, it is light, accurate, more than powerfull enough, the report is mild, the recoil is even less and you can operate the slide with a pinky finger.
15 round USGI magazines are super reliable and if you can find a USGI 30 rounder even better.
Mine build can shoot like this
The other two I have are a field grade 3-5" and a Danish less Wood 8" before I chopped the barrel and recrowned, now it also shoots 3-5"
You probalby have a line on some KA headstamped Korean ammo which is supposed to be corrosive.
Clean the gun extra good, first with windex or something else water based to knock down the salts and then follow your standard cleaning routine.
I stip my bolt just in case when firing the...
