In an effort to get my wife out trap shooting in an easier, less competitive, more relaxed environment I fabricated a rig for my old Trius Trap that fits the receiver hitch of my truck. ( So I didn't have to bend over...)
Everyone stands EVEN with the thrower on the left and right of the...
If you've had them for 50 yrs. they likely came from the DCM (Director of Civilian Marksmanship) a disbanded entity. If you really want to ask I would tell CMP you have a friend who has one he wants to sell... Can he???
I have had both. I shoot both equally as well. IMO the 7.62x51 is the ballistic equivalent of the .30-06 out to about 500 yds.. Both are great battle rifles.
I find the M1A to be more pleasing to my eye.
I have read of incidents explaining the following. Loading normally, when the bolt strips a round from the clip the bolt is slowed down by that action. When single feeding and letting the bolt fly into battery the firing pin has enough inertia to dimple and possibly light the primer and...
Ron, to the best of my knowledge NYS does NOT recognize the pistol permits from ANY other state. (As a resident of upstate NY I cannot carry into NYC.) So not only can you NOT go into any establishment serving alcohol, you cannot legally carry into the STATE.
Our legislature/governor...
I removed the plug with the tool pictured by @woodnbow in post #16. It was a TC tool (I believe it to be the one on the left) on a .50 cal Hawken.
Rifle had been shot a fair amount and always cleaned in boiling soapy water. It hadn't been shot in 30+ yrs. when I removed the plug. Piece of...
Lots of good suggestions here. My suggestion would be to leave the match rifles to their intended purpose. I wouldn't borrow a rifle. There are plenty of good, relatively inexpensive rifles available for hunting. I like some of the Savage options for a hunting rifle. I purchased a used...
Very nice score. I had a Pre-'64 M 70 and had a Hart barrel in 280 Rem. installed. What a great caliber and shooter. That being long action I would go with .270, .280. or .30-06 or what ever long action cartridge you desire...
There was a hardware store in Schenectady, NY ( Wallace Armer ) that had everything you needed. I walked in one time and asked for a #3-56 screw. The counterperson asked how many I wanted, they were about $.07 each... That store is now gone and I truly miss it.
I've heard a lot of BS rumors about UPS lately about shipping ammo, etc... I was told ammo had to ship from an FFL to an FFL and this is NOT true. It just has to ship from a
"customer service center" or hub as they are sometimes called and not a store. Firearms have to ship to an FFL...
How about getting a short slug barrel and an extended magazine tube, (or another bird barrel which you could shorten) . That way you still have the quail gun. I believe there to be lots of aftermarket items for 870's.
I have sent a few lever actions through USPS. I always ship with the buttstock removed and in the same package. There are just too many goons and that long a package can easily get hurt. Never had to remove firing pins or any of that nonsense. I was asked (didn't have to show anything)...
