"you are on your own the police are not coming to save you and it's time to start thinking like you are on your own and the police are not coming to save you"
Of course the fine officers will save you if they can, but 99.9% of the time all they can do is ask you questions while the EMT's load...
Ironically, my well-trained friend just texted me. He's on a road trip to visit his mom. He's driving his nice Mustang with a fin on the back, nice clothes, his new Citizens watch. He texted me while he was getting gas. He's a great guy. I love him. That big pistol of his and the two magazines...
If you are military or LE, you carry what's necessary to perform your duties.
Civilians carry whatever they please.
Where I live, the homeless addicts and young tough guys just out of jail don't have firearms. If they did, they would trade them for meth or fentanyl. I've lived here about nine...
When I go shooting at the range, I often see people training to be prepared for gunfights. They move around and change mags and stuff. It looks fun.
I don't spend time and energy training for things that are extraordinarily unlikely. I live in the worst neighborhood of a poor town that has a...
Seems like there are lots of people preparing for a "gunfight". If you're not military or LE or a professional criminal, you're preparing for something extraordinarily unlikely.
There were 235 violent crimes in my small town last year (a high crime rate compared to most small towns). Zero of...
If you're in a "gunfight" and need a reload, you should stop stealing from people and/or leave their ladies alone. If someone starts shooting at you from 25 yards away, it's not street crime; it's an assassination attempt.
I don't need 30 rounds to protect myself from muggings and other actual...
I got what was obviously a LE turn-in Taurus a year or two ago. Model 82 with 3" barrel. Good shooter. Big service grips.
I got a used Model 605 real cheap last year. It shoots fine. Someone was kind enough to grind of the spur hammer so I didn't have to. :)
My Taurus GX4 is a similar pistol, a double-stack 9mm "micro". It's fine. I like the trigger and sights. It goes bang every time. Turns out I don't like carrying something that thick.
For small 9mm I prefer the Kahrs. They're single-stack and not everyone likes their trigger, but I traded my...
My friend keeps up with things. He has a 365 and a couple of EZ's. I shot them all. They're nice. Zero problems.
That kind of thing isn't my cup of tea, but the 365XL is his current favorite.
The revolver, holster, pocket, and pants all have to fit just right. When they do, it's an excellent carry method. The main thing is that the pants and pocket can't be loose.
My Taurus 9mm snub doesn't have that problem, but when I put the 9mm cylinder in my Blackhawk it can happen.
For me it's the ammo. If a case is a little out of spec, it can jam up the cylinder.
I broke a finger on my dominant hand a few years ago. All that I was comfortable shooting was a couple of DA revolvers with good triggers.
I'm 58 and now my hands are giving me trouble most days. I still have the good revolvers. :)
There are 32 caliber revolvers waiting for me as I get older...
