Do you load your BP revolver W/O a loading block?

Well, well.....I don't remember taking out the cylinder to reload the 1858, but it had a top strap and didn't disassemble the same as a Colt. Off hand, I can't remember how the 1858 disassembled. For Colts, it does make sense to pull the cylinder to reload. I guess that's why the mallet in...

Do you load your BP revolver W/O a loading block?

Just wondering how you do it without fumbling. I have two new revolvers, Uberti 1847 Walker and Uberti 1849 .31 pocket revolver. Do I really need a loading block, or do some of you have a method that works without the hassle of using a loading block? I would imagine that once a chamber is...

    Rubber, plastic or wood?

Well, yes.....I can see that, chuckles..... Actually, I have some plastic grips on my PPK/S that feel just fine in my hand. Would I want plastic as a first choice over any other material?......No, I don't think I would. hog

    New Gun Purchase

Do you mean the ppk/s isn't drop safe when the hammer is forward? I think they are, because the hammer is blocked from hitting the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled. It would be unwise to carry it at full cock.....in that condition, it's impossible to put the safety on without dropping the...

Thanks, I put VTI in my favorites for future reference. Yep, I see it. At 35 bucks, I think I'll just go the leather thong route. I don't see any leather thongs in my stuff, so I found an unused piece of nylon shoelace, and threw it in with my BP stuff......that ought to do the trick. hog

Does Uberti offer spare parts for the Walker? I had the Idea that if I had a spare loading lever, and hacked off a couple of inches in loading lever length, the problem of it flipping off the hook would be eliminated. hog

I've used a Lyman Tapper, but I'll have to admit that I haven't disassembled the revolvers more than once or twice.....since they are new. The Lyman Tapper is among tools I always bring to the range anyway, but usually for drifting sights. Is it necessary to dissassemble the revolver at the...

What are you using the rubber mallet for? This thread is making my itch worse! I have a Uberti Walker that I bought in November. I haven't shot it yet, and won't until after winter.....probably around March, or so. Matter of fact, I have three new BP firearms to try out. I went nuts in...
