That's exactly what I said, which you claimed not to understand.
I wasn't the one to first use the term. I merely commented on it.
These discussions teach us things, without a doubt.
Much of it though is just affirmation of things we learned long ago.
I suspect it would have had no effect at all since he still only had split seconds to react to a violent attack.
There are differing opinions here as to what he should have done, so there's no reason to think the outcome would be that much different.
I've read some posts here stating that...
The context of my comment was avoiding jail and lawsuits, which was part of the post I quoted.
I seldom write essays that include every possibility.
People quickly lose interest with long winded posts.
That may be your "subject", but it wasn't mine.
The "MMQB" doesn't matter to the person at the time the incident is occurring.
All they have to go on is their own perceptions from their own point of view,
Nothing that takes place afterwards will change any thing,
While that may be true, it means nothing to the ones there when it happens.
They have split seconds to make life or death decisions, and no amount of internet second guessing can help with that.
It's an entertaining way to pass the time, but it's foolish to think it really accomplishes much...
I used to tell them to hold it closer to their phones so I could see it better.
(This was before the days of the "smart phones" that actually could do that.)
Not when so many only use them as a place to look at guns before they order them online to save $20.
They can't cover the overhead just doing transfers.
That particular post was, as well as your reply.
The thread itself isn't about a fantasy, but none of us were there so anything we think about it makes no difference in the end.
It's just a fact that these threads generally include lots of fantasy "What if..." or "I would.." scenarios, and...
It's far more likely you'll need the training for something else.
Getting it specifically in case of a gun shot wound would likely end up being a waste of time.
There is very little "realism" in most of these threads.
Everyone just goes into the "but what if" mode.
His premise was about what he would do if he were on the jury.
That's as "real" as most anything else as near as I can tell.
His fantasy courtroom is as valid as anyone else's fantasy isn't it?
First aid training is always good.
It has no special relationship to guns in particular.
I qualified for a Red Cross Advanced First Aid card when I was about 13.
It doesn't require spending a fortune, and there's nothing a class will teach you that can't be learned on your own by reading.
