    Marlin 982VS

I am looking to purchase a Marlin 982VS. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the trigger guard is plastic or metal? I have only seen pictures of the gun and will not see the actual gun until I order it. Also is the gun balanced well, with the target barrel? Thanks for the help.
