Surprise (to me) - The Cost of .22 Ammo Has Gone Down ?

Tom, also west MI here... I picked up .22 gun collecting and shooting less than 10 years ago, when Dunham's had Blazers @ 2 - 500 rnd bricks in 50 rnd boxes for $32.00 + tax... I still refuse to pay 10 cents/rnd now, but have bought a few MiniMags for .09/rnd.... Not much profit margin, so not...

    Experiences with Gun Broker site

I have several used gun purchases from GB, both long guns and hand guns. The best deals came AFTER the listing didn't sell... then contact seller to work out a deal... sometimes they will. You lose some safeguards, but a reputable seller with LOTS of positive feedback can be usually trusted, and...

Why did you start carrying a gun?

I looked around at some of the people I know who legally carry.... ...and thought, Man, if THAT guy is carrying a legal loaded weapon, I better have some defense because apparently they'll let anyone have a gun!!!!!!!!!!!! And sure enough, at least half the people in my CPL class, I wouldn't...

    CCI Quiet .22 LR

Also had success with the CCI Quiet in the Neos 16" Carbine kit, and with the 4" bbl, though as loud as SV in a longer barrel. Remington semi auto 552 has a 23" bbl and a "floating chamber" and it cycled the Quiet rounds, and with the long barrel the bolt cycling action was louder than the...

    Which of your .22LR rifles.....

OK then, how about I choose my Marlin 39 TDS, most all the same attributes noted for the Trapper, but no saddle ring for single point versatility. ... and the take-down on either rifle makes cleaning and clearing easy.

    Which of your .22LR rifles.....

Only one, eh! It would be a take-down. Short light barrel. Multi-round magazine you couldn't lose. Single point sling capable. Simple action for reliability. Quality made. From my collection it comes down to the Winchester 9422 Trapper Saddle Ring

    The Marlin 39 Club

Ranger900, the HS code started when they strengthened the bolt in '32 to take modern high speed cartridge power. So sometime between 1932 and 1939, but I can't find a specific year either. I didn't think the scope mount impacted quite so much... (see ya Friday:D )
