Thank you Mr. Zumbo and THR

Thanks to Zumbo's comments and some of the excellent discussion on this forum I ordered 3 AR stripped lowers this week. Never felt compelled to own an AR before, now all of a sudden I decided I needed three.

    What round for escaped Gorilla?

As Highlander said, Dallas Police shot a 300 pound gorilla that got loose at the Dallas Zoo in 2004. The zoo keeps a few African caliber rifles on hand just in case, I couldn't find reference to caliber online, but I think I remember it being a .458 also. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4558461/...

Derringers - For Serious Personal Defense

About 15 years ago I had an American Derringer .357. After about 2 years of ownership I finally got around to shooting it. Shot it 4 times with full house rounds, found out what my recoil tolerance level was and promptly sold it. I much prefer my 642 now as a BUG, or always gun.

    Stop Procrastinating get a Safe/RSC

I am glad to hear you got your stuff back. I don't think it usually works out that way. Thanks for the post and I have been thinking I needed a safe for a long time. I have decided that I will not buy another gun until I have a safe installed to put them all in. I have the safe vendors card...

    Kimber Dealers in DFW

You might check out Bachman Pawn & Gun near Love Field. I picked up my Kimber TLE from them at their gun show booth but they keep a pretty good supply at the store.

    Holster for SIG P239

Falconeer I sent you an e-mail with a question. Jack - I don't have a holster for my P239 yet but I have had really good luck with both Milt Sparks (Watch Six) and Rafter S Holsters or my other guns. Watching this thread to see what others have to say specific to the 239.

    Board Decides: P220 or XD-45 4"

Well I commend you for the CPO Sig choice, I don't see the reason to pay for a new one while these are available. I love my stamped steel SIG 220 mainly because it fits my hand so well. It has never jammed.

    What's your recoil limit???

I have been past my limit with a .357 Derringer. I bought it new, shot 4 rounds out of it, and sold it. A guy at the range let me shoot 3 rounds out of his .50 LAR Grizzly and that was okay, but I don't have any real desire to do it again. I don't have a real desire to shoot a .500 S&W or .357...

    Glock Talk??????

The forums are still there they just reformatted their front page, and you can't see them until you get inside a forum and use the "forum jump" button from the bottom of the page. I thought I had lost it too for a while, all of the state clubs, caliber clubs, etc. are still there.

    HK P2000 or Sig P239

I really like my Sig P239/.40, nice compact Every Day Carry piece. I am a big Sig fan. I haven't shot a P2000 though, I am sure they are nice.

Saw (heard) an ND at the Austin gun show today

I was in the Bigtown gun in Mesquite, TX a couple of years ago when somebody let a round loose from an AR-15. At least 2,000 people in the room went amazingly quiet for a few seconds while everyone looked around to see if anyone had any holes in them. Nearly the same situation, round bounced...

Has your CCW gotten bigger, smaller or stayed the same over the years?

Started out thinking I would only be satisfied with a 5" steel 1911. I bought a quality belt and holster but I am finding I don't like the weight even though I can conceal it easily. I am looking for something lighter, carrying my J frame more often and looking into a Sig 239 or Glock 36 next.

    Buying Hunting Land

I had the good fortune to grow up going to a hunting and fishing place on the weekends in Erath county 2 hours southwest of Dallas. It has good deer, turkey, dove, quail (some years), ducks, bass and crappie fishing. My family bought a ranch with 7 other families in 1974 when I was 5. It had...

How big is the CHL window in Texas?!?

Just send it in to Austin you will be fine. I received my TX CHL 3 days ago! I am a major procrastinator. I sent in the paperwork to Austin in December 2005. I took the class in February 2004. I think it used to be within six months from your class certificaion, but now it is 2 years. As I...
