Hello All
Question for you experienced bench rest guys.
Just received my new bench rest. Will not be using for competition, hopefully I will be able to hit some long range steel. Bench rest appears to be well built, will probably disassemble, clean up the left over manufacturing burrs...
Hello Jmorris
Looks like a nice shooting area and equipment.
As I said I really dont have many details about the weekend shooting trip. Dont know how far to carry in equipment. Sounds like most use prone position, they said to bring a bench if I had one. Right now I have my design in mind...
Good Ideas.
Really good if you are a young guy, or have lots of friends to help move the shooting bench.
I am getting older, and not that ambitious to move your bench, I would be too tired to shoot.:(
Thank you.!
Hello all.
Getting ready for a trip to a range in northern Ks for a long range shoot. My son has this arranged so I do not have all the specifics. He has been informed that they really do not think a lead sled will be of any benefit. I am going to purchase a Caldwell Rock BR to take with us...
Hello all. FYI
After almost 30 yrs of aircraft work ,tooling, jig and die fixturing and production work for the largest American aircraft co. The precision hand tools out of the tool crib were Mitutoyo. When things got really serious or engineering called it out we would use the swiss mics to...
Hello Earplug
Just set up Forster Co Ax press with Forster dies , as I said before kids are definitely expensive, son has Dillon 550B on the other end of the bench. Have sorted LC brass, de capped cleaned, primed, ready to find powder charge, and proceed.
Thanks
My son is wanting to try his 338 Lapua out to 1760 yards.
Just thinking I would like to see 700 to 800 yrs with the 223. Some may not consider that long range.
Where we are going can be windy. ( here lately extremely windy ) 2 days range time with instructors to teach how to read the wind...
Hello Frogo
Neat avatar.
Know and understand what you are saying about the fun part of the reloading process. Definitely a good feeling when things come together and work as intended. I got away from all types of firearms middle 70s lost the desire. My son managed to get me to pick up...
Thank you to all that have responded, I have the newest book, and have seen the different powders, looked at powder burn rates.
My problem is finding the powder. I really do appreciate the load information, from you guys as I realize the time, and money invested.
My son just tells me all I...

As I will not have any chance to test any loads before going to this long range location, any load in particular that you felt was better.
And what increments of load increase should a person try . Half a grain at a time .?
Thanks again
Kaldor
Thank you for the reply.
I have talked with the Hogdon rep, he suggested some other powders that in his opinion are better, however none of which are available.
Also talked to Hornady rep, that's how I came up with the 73 grain bullett.
I have read that the load data be reduced 10...
Thank you for your reply.
As you know powder is almost non existent, and primers are impossible to find. Been checking LGS for powders may find something on occasion.
That's reason for using the H 335. Was wondering about the powder grains in the load books, when using the LC brass.
Thanks...
Hello to all
I have lurked in the shadows off and on. Did a lot of trap shooting , and shot shell reloading 50 yrs back.
My son got me into reloading pistol and rifle ammo.
As the title suggests I am working on Lake city 556 brass for a long range shoot later this summer.
Rock River R3...
