Electrical Tape...is this a bad idea?

As long as you do not overlap the tape to create "high spots" and torq it down properly, I don't see an issue. With modern rings I don't really see it as being necessary.

    Steel case ammo

I have practiced with Wolf or Tul-ammo for years to reduce the cost. The only problems I've had is that with certain gun's the firing pin will occasionally fail to ignite the "berdan" primers they typically use. My CZ75's don't like the berdan primers. They are dirtier but I haven't found them...

    Philosophy of extra magazines

I carried a 1911 (full size or Commander models) with at least 2 spare mag's for 20+ years before being forced by Dept. policy to carry the issued M&P's for the remaining 13 years. (both on and off duty). I have seen very good shooters actually / accidentally throw their reload mag straight at...

    Backstops in the Real World

"In fact, the round, whether using shot or even an ordinary bullet does not rebound off the surface the way a cue ball does on a pool table - it tends to slide along that secondary surface depending on how hard it is and your actual angle to it as the shooter." ^^^ This is why (when I was in...

soliciting scope suggestions for custom rifle

I use either Leupold or Burris scopes as a rule, both are good quality. Have no experience with meoptas.

    Ammo prices

For those who haven't noticed, the ammo industry/vendors do this every election or emergency situation that arises. Most inflate the prices of "FMJ" ammo about to double the normal price. Self defense ammo also rises but normally not as much proportionately. Unfortunately this isn't new, same...

    Stoeger 3000 12 ga?

I had the 930 and still have my M3000. The 930 was much more ammo sensitive until I had about 600rds (heavy loads) through it. The M3000 has never missed a lick since I first got it. I now have approximately 1000 rds through it.

How smooth can you really make a RAMI BD factory trigger?

If you are not willing to update the trigger with a CGW kit then the only option is to polish and smooth out the factory parts. They are notoriously rough from the factory and typically need substantial buffing and polishing to clean up the rough "stamped out" edges on the parts. A lot of people...

how would you rate the CZ P07

sparkyv: "How can you even say that? Now I've gotta spit.," Actually I didn't say that (I was repeating an earlier post, #13), and then adding comments below it of how the P07 was an improvement over the Glock 19... I don't particularly like Glock ergonomic's or triggers.

how would you rate the CZ P07

"Just about everyone loves the Gock 19. The P07 is like a hammer-fired Glock 19 but a lot more accurate. I love mine." ^^^... better trigger, better ergonomics, Hammer fired +++, and a 1911 grip angle & feel. Only weakness as far as I'm concerned is the "de-cocker" design. I still prefer my &%...

This Hellcat is stinging my trigger finger

"Actually, they have completely different triggers. Both are similar in the sense of pull weight, but the P365 has a solid and smooth metal trigger while the Hellcat has a much different style with an integrated safety and very sharply curved tip.." ^^^ this... I find their triggers dramatically...

    Helping out a bad shoulder

"Understood. Going to a gas-semi over a pump will help with shotguns though." ^^^...This will help considerably if you are insisting on a 12 ga. (pump shotguns are not the most pleasant to shoot, semi-auto/gas systems produce a lot less recoil) also might consider putting on a thick...

Oh yeah, "sweet looking 1911" at a good price!

My first 1911 is here, finally.

If there is any possibility of ever carrying it, I wouldn't lessen the trigger pull to less than 4-4.5 lbs. That's still plenty light to shoot accurately but still have enough resistance to avoid an "ND".

Talk me out of this Shield

Without reading 150+ previous post/ opinions I will give my opinion about the .45 vs 9mm assuming the capacity disparity is nominal. I was carrying a Shield 9mm for a while but it's thin grip was not really conducive for rapid fire because it's grip is so thin it has a tendency to rotate in my...
