    Long range rifle pictures!

"Moreover, long range riflery is 10% gun and 90% rifleman." Amen! Truer words were never written.

    Can you identify this rifle?

"i highly doubt the BATFE is going to list a gun for sale and when the buyer shows up to look at it, say "suprise, your going to jail because this is a machine-gun". way too many holes for a lawyer to have fun with." You have a lot to learn about law enforcement, and especially the BATF! Law...

How To Carry a HEAVY Rifle.

I don't have an answer to your question, but it sure brought back memories of humping a BAR with a full load of ammo. As I remember, there wasn't a "good way" - they were all bad and worse!

Plinking by a bridge on a 'country road'.

One question about shooting from bridges: Exactly what and where is the safe backstop that safe gun handling and common sense require? It's illegal to discharge a firearm within 100 yards of a public road in this state. Of course, that doesn't stop some morons from hunting deer from the...

Which sub-compact .40 would you get?

I purchased a Glock 27 which is a great sub-compact as it comes. However, I added a .357 Sig barrel, and I've never fired a round of .40 since! The 27 or 33 are excellent choices, but I much prefer the .357 Sig to the .40 S&W.

    Barrels by Specialized Firearms?

I've come across two target barrels made by "Specialized Firearms." Does anybody know anything about this company and how I can contact them? A web search turned up nothing.

    Beretta 1201FP - good buy?

The 1201FP is a very nice shotgun and certainly worth $450 if it is in excellent condition. Since this is a lightweight 12 ga. the recoil can be intimidating with heavier loads. It's recoil operated, it usually handles a wide variety of loads better than some of the gas operated guns.

Know anything about the Interarms Whitworth?

I had one of these in .375 H&H and thought it was a quality rifle for the price. IMO it had better workmanship than the CZ rifles I've seen lately.

    Nova or 500

Both are good choices, but I have the Nova tactical and have been very satisfied. I purchased the Benelli complete with ghost ring sights for $300, and that is considerable cheaper than a Mossberg comparably equipped. Also I like the magazine cut-off feature on the Nova.

    Hog Hunting & Slugs

A well placed 12 ga. slug will kill any pig on four legs. In a 1-ounce load, you're talking about a 450 grain projectile at 1500 fps making a .70+/- size hole!

    Department of Agriculture Sharpshooters

Thanks Al for the answer to my question! Interesting choice of guns and ammunition. I had figured on something slower and heavier to help the suppressor with the noise.

    Ruger 44 carbine ejection malfunctions

I owned one of these carbines when they first appeared, and it was ammunition sensitive. It was designed for full-power 240 grain jacketed ammo. Lighter bullets, cast bullets, reduced power handloads would cause the malfunction you describe.

    Department of Agriculture Sharpshooters

The park where the USDA is scheduled is Oak Mountain State Park just south of Birmingham in Shelby County. The State Department of Conversation scheduled a special archery hunt there about a month ago that resulted in only 25 deer being bagged. That disappointing yield resulted in the USDA...

    Department of Agriculture Sharpshooters

Scout26 says they "jacklight" the deer. I know that is probably the best solution, but USDA pay enough money to hire me for that job! I still wonder what equipment they are using. Scout26 said they used shotguns with slugs. Any other ideas?

    Department of Agriculture Sharpshooters

An urban state park here in Alabama with a very large deer herd has been selected to be thinned. Even though the park was opened briefly for bow hunting, that failed to make a dent in the deer population. Now, "sharpshooters.......with suppressers" will be used to thin the herd. Does anybody...

    Shotgun home defense ammo

I use reduced-recoil #4 buckshot in my Benelli Nova because it patterns well in my gun and is adequate to get the job done. It's penetration and range are less than the larger buckshot, and is less likely to shoot through a couple of bedroom walls.

    3" @ 1500 yards?

It's possible as a fluke, but the important question is: Can it be repeated? Sort of like the guy who recently had two holes-in-one during one round of golf. The odds were astronomical the first time, and he sure isn't likely to repeat it.

Bush thinks immigration plan is not a big deal

It's darn sure a big deal to this voter! A few weeks ago, I was 100% certain I would back Bush for re-election, but the immigration issue is a major problem for me. This open political pandering to gain the hispanic vote is too much. Bush's proposed changes in immigration law may be good for...

    Benelli Nova vs. Remington 870

A couple of things I like about the Nova that persuaded me to buy one. First, it comes with a magazine cut off that allows you to eject the shell in the chamber without feeding a shell from the magazine. Secondly, it is ultra easy to strip and clean. Finally, I purchased the Nova complete with...
