They are fine to use. As far as minimum length, the 44 Special has a case length of 1.16" so you're still well above that. If you approach that length, might want to start using 44 Special load data.

I have been using Universal in 45 Colt for the past 20 years. Similar to Unique in burn rate, meters well, much cleaner than Unique.
