    Who dislikes/hates the Beretta 92FS/M9?

I have extensive experience with those things, and maintained a hate-hate relationship with them during the period I was forced to use them. I have grown to not like DA type handguns in general, while giving what I considered the better guns that share this system of operation their due respect...

    Tisas M1911A1 ASF versus WW2 Remington-Rand

I recently picked up a GI style Tisas 45 in commander size ($330 from PSA) and the 2 tone T10 10mm, to check killing a deer and hog with a "normalish" style service pistol off my bucket list (demo model- $500 direct from Tisas) and I am surprisingly happy with both. The commander size one was an...

    Mare's leg type guns- why?

The idea of a derringer belly gun sounds workable until you find yourself with one of those silly things in your hand and you are facing someone with a more practical gun at a distance of greater than bad breath. I think your cap gun is only slightly less useful than a mare leg that actually...

Bill would prevent sales of guns that can be converted with ‘Glock switches’

The Glock has been out for a lot longer than these switches- definitely not a scenario of the eternal chicken or egg question. I say the responsibility is on whoever is making these non-Glock manufactured safety switches. They should be made.. more illegal? People have been modifying firearms...

    Mare's leg type guns- why?

Steve’s was probably made of balsa wood when it was in his holster

    Mare's leg type guns- why?

It seems to me that myself and others "show their ignorance" here every time we ask a question about something we don't know. Like, about how things may have been done at some point by someone who was born 108 years ago. Personally, I think I would prefer to exploit the accuracy, power, and...

    Mare's leg type guns- why?

We recently watched a sci-fi series on amazon called "fallout", where a bad guy uses a version of one of these things that was evidently chambered in some sort of high explosive round, judging from the effects every time he used it. It got me thinking about the ones that exist in reality, and I...

    Infirmities? Auto vs. Revolver

There are all kinds of reasons that a particular design of handgun may be a better choice for an individual than another. The most common misconception is that a revolver is always the best choice "because it won't jam", or its (potentially) smaller size, or what such-and-such statistics say...

    Carry Safety

Different styles of guns present different requirements for safe carrying. While best practices dictate that having the trigger guard covered is always a good choice, it is less critical with something like a DA revolver than with, say, a Glock. Carrying in a purse or similar bag is a poor...

Carry Options... Is your gun "shootable" under stress?

Equally important to the capabilities if the gun, caliber, and shooter is the accessibility and carry method. This is another area that must be incorporated into realistic scenario-based training, and anyone who does this will likely realize quickly that methods like pocket carry, ankle...

    Alert Systems in Home Invasion

I think dogs are the best early warning system, whether just for their vocal alerting abilities or for any "kinetic" skill set. You don't need to turn them on before you go to bed, and they are free from electronic glitches or hacking, and they are not dependent on electrical power to function...

do you stop shooting before taking air travel?

I have done this many times- flying after hunting or shooting. Many people do. TSA and other agencies use a device called a itemizer that not only detects explosives, it will tell the operator of the machine exactly what explosives or residue from explosive(s) are present, assuming the device is...

    A spare reload if needed

When I am carrying my shield 9, (8 rounds) I will typically carry a spare if circumstances, clothing, etc. permit. When my carry pistol was a Glock 19, I usually didn't bother but I would have 1 or 2 extra mags maybe in my vehicle. I don't make self defense decisions based on "average" statistics.

9mm AR - soot on my shoulder?

I wouldn't think that would happen since there is no gas tube sending all the nasty back like on a "normal" AR.

They don't give a "well trained professional" or "nice" vibe at all.

Trapping Coyotes On Property That Has Wild Hogs

Not really my area of expertise, but it sounds like a scenario where you may end up with no coyotes and damaged traps since hogs will eat anything. I'm considering welding all the sections of the legs together on my deer feeders and concreting them into the ground like fence posts in the hopes...

    Loading 5 in a revolver

I see no reason to deprive myself of 16% of my potential load in a gun that is drop safe, unless I am firing some type of exercise scenario that only requires 5 rounds. If I was in fact using a revolver, which I don't.

Opinions on the perfect nightstand handgun.

I use a Glock 19C with a mounted white light and a secondary white light with a wrist lanyard for hand held use staged alongside the Glock. The second light serves as backup to the primary light, as well as an option to illuminate an area without pointing a loaded weapon at everything I am...

What's your preferred every day carry?

I would "prefer" one of my Glock 19's, but since I live in Fl where it is almost always t shirt weather, in practice I carry a S&W shield 9mm.
