    Mossberg Patriot "fun"

I have found tho too that when it doesn't like a loading it REALLY doesn't like it, and it hates shooting warm could practically watch it start stringing when it heats up.

    Mossberg Patriot "fun"

So 5 years ago a good friend of mine wanted to start deer hunting for the first time. He didn't have a big budget and didn't want to invest alot of cash in a new outdoor hobby (already tied up most of his money in fishing gear haha). So he browsed the entry level rifles and picked what, to...

    Boyds vs Choate

Seems like overwhelming consensus is Boyd's. Thank-you all very much for your input. ...Now I gotta make myself pick a color... even more tough! Haha

    Redfield Scope Repairs?

I have a Redfield Revolution acting up, when I emailed Leupold they said to fill out the form from the website and send it in. I hadn't gotten around to it yet, harvest season keeps me pretty busy.

    Boyds vs Choate

I don't mind heavy, if I'm gonna tote a rifle very far I have other options. Any thoughts as to the pillar bedding a boyds vs the bedding block? Also BigBL87 did you notice any kind of flexing thru the grip area? My factory one definitely feels like it does there and I don't like it.

    Boyds vs Choate

Looking to replace the stock on my Savage 12fv. I have it narrowed down to two options... Boyd's Pro Varmint (with the pillar bedding) https://www.boydsgunstocks.com/product-configurator or Choate Tactical (has full length bedding block)...

    Scope base problem?

I have not torqued it down yet. In my excitement to get the gun set up I forgot to check it off the rifle first :( On a side note, is it possible its just a miss-ground lug on top of the pic rail? It acts like there is just a tiny high spot in the middle. Any way to check if the underside...

    Scope base problem?

I just got a Leopold Mark 4 20 MoA base for a new rifle. I decided I was going to bed the base to the action. After I got it on and waiting for it to cure I used my calipers stem (is that the right term?)as a straight edge and noticed it wasn't perfectly flat on top. I was able to get a...

    Lucky group?

The weather is beautiful here in NE today! My only disappointment was my son didnt want to go test the loads for his .223, opting to play xbox instead.

    Lucky group?

40.5 was my powder charge, the widest point left by the bullet marks was ~0.325 according to my calipers. With my typical luck when I chronograph it I'll have an ES of about 100 and i wont be able to use it long range haha.

    Lucky group?

Thanks for all the compliments! Hopefully soon I can load up a few more of them and see if my luck holds out (I'd still be happy with 1/2 moa ;) )

    Lucky group?

Its 107yards. I know odd number haha, but with the way my ground sits my best prone position is 7yards behind my 100yd bench. Also I'm aware 5 round groups are a better judge, but I've had pretty decent luck using 3 round groups to pick a few charges, then fine tune with 5 round groups

    Lucky group?

So I was testing some loads for a 6.5 creedmoor that almost always shoots sub m.o.a and got the following... There were no extra holes on the paper (besides a previous group 6" away, and nothing on the backer board. I was thinking i might have gotten lucky and be all 3 shots?

    Walk-in Vault Humudity

it didnt stay empty very long... Thats my bulky temporary heating solution. I have seen moisture on the walls/ceiling before I waterproof painted it. But I havnt seen any signs of moisture with the heat and dehumidifier going (regardless of outside temperatures from 5 to 50)

    Walk-in Vault Humudity

Our basement has a dehumidifier running essentially year round, what if I put an exhaust fan in the vault door? I could force conditioned air into the room... and it would be our house's very stable basement temperature, possibly removing the need for the heater

    Walk-in Vault Humudity

In my haste I just realized I misspelled humidity in the post title... /facepalm And no, no way for an automatic drain without considerable cost. Insulating the ceiling is a good idea, I think I can glue some up. On a side note, what do you think is an adequate temperature? Currently I have...

    Walk-in Vault Humudity

I recently got permission from my better half to turn our basement tornado shelter into a walk-in vault (as long as I leave enough space for it to still be used during an actual tornado). Its approximately 22' long 3.5' wide and 7' tall. I was trying to think how to control humidity and was...

Which budget bolt 223? (Part 2)

I have a Savage 12FV from cabelas (mines in .204 ruger tho) and absolutely love it. As for the stock flex I put a graphite arrow shaft in the forend and filled it with JB weld (helped a fair amount) and to help balance the weight filled the rear end with silicone.

    Which 7mm Rm

My family farms in eastern Nebraska and have access to a stretch of land that is about 2 miles long and before the crops start coming in I have a separate 550yd range behind my place (my 100yd range bench is 31 steps from my back door) We welcomed a son last January and babysitting has been...
