For me the epitome has always been the blued S&W N frame revolvers like this Pre-Model 29
I never managed to hang onto my Pre-29 but at least I still have my set of M29-2's.
My DR would be an early pre-Model 29 44 Magnum with coke bottle grips like this one.
The reality is I had to settle for a run of the mill M29-2. Much more in line with my pay grade than an early 5 screw gun.
If your receiver is pretty close to allowing the HK mags to fit you can do what I did on my last CETME.
I was able to file down the mag well of the receiver until the HK mags would latch. You have to take this slow and easy but it will work if the bottom of the mag well is preventing the...
That was way beyond an excellant buy. It was bordering on fantastic, especially when you consider the condition and getting the box and paperwork.
In my part of the woods these are getting very hard to come by.
As I've gotten older I have been replacing many of my cheaper guns for
more quality pieces. Kind of a swap up from quanity to quality as it were.
For example, in the old days I had several different type of 1911s (mostly Colts) but not so anymore. These days I still have one Kimber and one...
I have a Remington Sendero in 300 WinMag for longer ranges that I really like. It supplements my other Model 700s in 308 and 30/06. However, If I had the funds I'd like to get another 338 Lapua. I now wish I hadn't sold the one I had but thats the way I seem to do things at times. The 338...
Very nice set-up!!!
I also wish I had that much space. At our old house I had an entire large
room dedicated to work on and store guns as well as reload ammo. In our current house all I have is a corner of a storage room that I share with storing
Christmas decorations, food and canning...
Just as an example, the two Ganders near me used to have the Savage/Stevens 200 rifles priced between $279-289. Now the same guns
are priced at $359 which is close to or at retail.
They won't get my gun dollars. I only look there as they sometimes make
a mistake and have their used...
I liked Elmer's approach to big bore magnum handguns. However, I wasn't as enthused with Keith's big bore approach to rifles. I was more drawn to O'Conner's viewpoints on the high velocity side with the 270. In fact, O'Connor caused me to buy a 270 as my first centerfire rifle. Even these...
I've never had any problems with shooting the poly version of Wolf in any
of my four ARs. I believe a rifle that won't function with Wolf is a rifle
that has some kind of function problem that is masked with the higher
power milspec 5.56 ammo.
Certainly a lot of the reasons for the huge increase in ammo is because of base metal price increases, the increase in energy prices, the slide of the
value of the US dollar and the pressure to curtail the importing of MilSurp
ammo by the evil UN.
However, one big factor is the bottomless...
I'm a life member. While I haven't always agreed with everything the NRA
has done they are still the biggest and best lobbying group we have to fight
the anti-gun movement.
The only magazine I subscribe to is American Rifleman because of my life
membership in the NRA. I rarely buy any mags off the newsstands anymore. After shooting for well over 30 years I just don't bother.
On occasion I will buy a mag now and then if its something of interest but I agree...
I raely buy gun magazines any more either. They are for the most part
a huge waste of money but I do occasionally buy Guns or American Handgunner magazines.
I believe you folks are wrong about Century using drunken monkeys to
assemble their guns. They actually use blind monkeys-being drunk is an optional
condition of the monkey's employment.
I agree with the prior Colorado poster about Jensen Arms in Loveland. Great stock of guns and accesories. You won't likely get a real steal on anything but they do price their stock of guns very fairly.
My only two concerns are that they don't have used or consigned guns very often and they...
I'm not a big fan of Glocks but I don't think I would trade off my G26.
I am, coincidentily, a big fan of 1911s but one of the prior posters statement is right on the money. The small 1911s are just not as reliable as the full size versions.
However, the Glock G26, will run reliably for a...
I tried using the wife's oven to bake on the finish on a pistol once-just once.
I will never again attempt doing anything more with gun parts in the oven.
The smell was overwhelming and further more, the grief from my wife is just
way too much brain damage. Moreover, I think if I tried to...
