Is the state law old before preemption was passed? That would make it void wouldn't it? We have a lot of laws here in Wi still on the books but are not enforceable anymore since we got preemption back in 98 I think.

Open carry you are good to go with out any need for a permit you just have to stay out of school zones.

Wisconsin is a open carry state. It was prety popular a few years ago when it was our only option. You dont hear too much about it now days.

You can only open carry in a school zone if you have a CCL the cops can ask if you are in one. If you are open carrying otherwise they have no right to ask you anything. There have been a few nice payouts for cops that over steped. Check out this site for good info...
